What Taric's Rework Needs

CryoGX··102 votes·5,724 views

You've seen how, despite being the star dragon, Aurelion Sol throws literally the most shade out of any champion?

We need this with Taric, but even more so.

We need this man to be fabulous.

We need this man to tell any gaudy champ skins that they have no fashion sense.

We need him to tell Lux "Ezreal sends his regards" when she dies.

We need this man to have the first "taunt comeback" in the game and refute Aurelion's taunt to him. Sol: "You're an Aspect? Let me guess, tackiness." "That would have stung a bit if star dragons actaully knew how to dress."

This is where I rapidly pressed the upvote button, lmfao.

Can we get this as a kill quote rather than a normal taunt?

He needs Cosmic sass He needs to be able to play Top Mid Support Anywhere And he needs to be so fabulous He can impregnate any Leonas in the botlane Just by peacefully farming top Any Ezreals too Hell, he should be able to impregnate Sol just by auraing him We need the Jack Harkness of the League, Riot

There's a reason he's king of the official Husbando chart, and he should stay that way: http://i.imgur.com/koRVXSv.jpg

I really don't want him to be stereotypically flamboyant and gay. He should have remarks about gems and such and have a soothing voice, but to make him a caricature of fashion and gay culture would not be appropriate I think. The joke with Ezrael is a bit old at this point I think as well. Other than gay jokes (and that kickass animation with Taric and Ezrael against Ashe and Thresh) there's really no reason to put them together. If he is gay or bi or pan or whatever other orientation there is in Runeterra, that's just fine. If he likes having immaculate armor, that's peachy too. I just don't want him to be a stereotype for the sake of 'Gays are funny!'

I do think old Taric was a bit "ha ha gays are funny", especially with Riot almost confirming his relationship with Ezreal a few times. But Riot has grown past that since his release so I kind of expect them to approach this in a more original and mature way.

My problem is the fact that saying Taric would be gay or biggest would be like saying Illaoi's favorite food is mangos. What point or effect would it have? None. Coming from a bisexual man I find Taric to not actually be flamboyantly gay, he just talks slow and soothingly about gems, the idea that's gay is what's wrong. I would much prefer what Op stated as having him to be a huge sass master in brilliant shiny armor that shows off his manhood. That would be nice. You could have someone like Darius and a rioters can say they're gay, and that'd be cool, but it's not something you can feel in game, which sounds so stupid, but really think it out. Either way it doesn't matter much, if Sion and poppy are are nothing to go by, Taric will not be anywhere close to how he is portrayed in game or by the community, just a whole different character besides gem knight.

As a gay man, I find Ezreal and Taric relationship offensive. I hate this stereotype. I wouldn't want the first gay champion (or relationship) in story as stereotype incarnate.

I have a friend who thinks Graves and TF can't be gay because they're too masculine, even if they're, Graves must be top.

Pff...

Not sure at all about sass. I rather think he should just be this beautiful knight full of dignity.

I like the idea of him being witty or charming, but not being flamboyant at the expense of who his character originally was. There's also a dignity, pride, and chivalrous aspect to the character that I think makes him compelling, and allows him to be more easily identified with (his original motive was protecting people, not doing it for recognition/fame; I liked that a lot because, as a support player, those are the things I enjoy doing).

While making the character more dynamic would be cool, I'd rather not see his personality do an 180, or for him to become some sort of Mettaton-esque caricature of what he was before either.

Yeah, the intent is to sort of have these snark remarks come out of left-field with the special interactions, as Aurelion's essentially a god who gets excited when he sees a snowglobe worthy of adding to his collection (it's in the video I'm serious). I want Taric to ultimately keep a sense of dignity and integrity, but also have an incredible hidden sense of humor that catches people more offguard than a Rengar jumping you just to steal your CS.

Fabulousness? Flamboyancy? Yes. Gay? No.

CryoGX3 votes

He can be fabulous without being homosexual, and even if he were, it's possible to go about said orientation and humor without being stereotypical at the core. (The Ezreal joke could also be gone about as a 4th-wall poke at the community, rather than Taric's interests.)

Again, I believe humor can be gone about in a way that doesn't overly detriment the core personality, as one of the smaller Aspects of Taric's personality.

Taric + Speedo (with teemos face prints on it) + counter taunts = ultimate champion.

He still needs to dazzle Ezreal in bot lane.

While shocking Sion in top lane.

And Shaco still needs to be surprised by his style when he comes out from the jungle.

Armor of the Fifth Age? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Also, will probably edit the initial post with more interaction ideas.

I always think of Taric Taric as the Knight of the game, him and Garen Garen are the 2 noble knights I don't think he should be a fancy taunting idiot which is why I despise how his alternate costume looks, it looks so stupid they should give him better costumes

Bloodstone is fucking awesome. Admit it.

VivaLaKitten1 votes

what? no I meant armor of the fifth age

Sevixys1 votes

Armor of the fifth age is meant to look ridiculous. It's a parody of WoW Paladin Tier 5 Armor (google it). Also, Bloodstone Taric is hella badass.

VivaLaKitten1 votes

it works as a parody, but I mean, who would use it? :P no one uses it because it looks "eeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhh >.>"

Sevixys1 votes

Imo it's an awesome skin. Probably the best one in existence. Do you have something against it?

VivaLaKitten1 votes

Armor of the fifth age? yes Bloodstone? no

Wurf, it's your opinion. AotFA is absolutely fabulous - and majority of the playerbase agrees with me. Seems like Bloodstone is the right skin for you :)
