I'm pretty sure his comparison was strictly to 'the french waiter from Ratatouille'. You're the one implying that the model or at least the waiter is ugly.
The model is ugly though. Stylized isn't an excuse for amateur work. The original model didn't need an update, especially such an egregious mock-up. The new model is like an actress putting on stage make-up, wearing a costume, got smacked in the face with a mallet.
