Are Master Yi and Riven's Lore Connected?

In Master Yi's lore it goes on about how strong he is and how the Noxians thought the Wuju disciples could be a threat to their invasion on Ionia, so they have Singed unleash a chemical attack on the village, ending most of the practitioners of Wuju in one fell strike.

In Riven's lore her Noxian unit is surrounded by Ionians, mentioning nothing of any Wuju disciples, however, instead of them receiving support in the form of more Noxian reinforcements, Singed unleashes a chemical attack on everyone, killing the Ionians and Noxians.

Keep in mind that Singed is no tactician, he would have no qualms with getting to test his concoctions on able-bodied men, whether they were Noxian or Ionian, however it doesn't state anywhere in his lore that Singed is in any particular leadership role in Noxus's army besides as a supplier, so him being green lighted by an officer to kill off a Noxian unit is unlikely.

On one hand, Singed most likely wouldn't care what any Noxian officer has to say, but on the other hand is the fact that maybe a superior DID green light the chemical attack.

Riven's unit may have been surrounded by Wuju disciples as the invasion neared Master Yi's village. A Noxian officer could have weighed the options:

  1. Deploy Noxian reinforcements and risk losing more men to the Wuju disciples than they would end up saving.
  2. Deploy Singed and allow him to use his chemical attack, ending both the Wuju disciples and the Noxian unit, but no risk of losing more men.

If my theory is correct, then there is no question which option was chosen.

Or I could be wrong and Riven and Master Yi share no Lore connection. . .

They were fighting in the same place, just on different sides, but they had never met or known each other before becoming a part of the League.

But since IoW is now rectoned, Yi and Riven are most likely just 2 individuals who have vague connections yet practically no connections to each other besides once fighting on the same battlefront as enemies.
