A question about drawn influences regarding the design of Kai Sa and Caitlyn

Greetings dear members of the forum! First let me thank you for the time you would spent on reading this question of mine.

I wished to know if there is any official or correct information about the characters or media possibly influencing the design and lore of Kai Sa and Caitlyn. I explored several sources about this subject, but I didn't manage to acquire any adequate information about the inspirations. Of course it's much interesting to lore and design enthusiasts such as I to know about these trivia.

However, it appeared that Kai Sa's symbiotic relationship with her living skin was drawn from a certain franchise. I wonder if Venom from Marvel was an inspiration.

Moreover, I sense a steampunk theme in Caitlyn's design and few of her splash arts. Perhaps few influences were drawn from steam punk animes, or even novels of steam punk genre.

Henceforth, I wished to ask you if there is any official source of information concerning this matter, or there are any members of Riot aware of the answer.
