What if Fiddlesticks is the "darkness" that Swain has foreseen?

With the recent revelations we have gotten from the Roadmap came an update concerning our beloved Fiddlesticks, resident devil-out-of-nothing, harvester of mankind, and bringer of death and madness.

There has been a certain amount of speculation on what the threat that Swain has glimpsed through his scrying is supposed to be, the most common answer given being either Mordekaiser or the Void. Others have speculated about it being the Darkin, demons, the Black Mist, the Swimming City, or other, more specific assumptions. According to Interlocutioner, none of these guesses have been right.

So, what if it's Fiddlesticks?

Fiddlesticks is supposedly an ancient evil—a darkness from beyond mortal comprehension, incalculable and inexorable, a portent of extinction to mankind that appears out of nowhere and has unknown motivations—and a danger which is seemingly not connected to any monsters we have learned of so far. Fiddlesticks isn't a demon, a horror of the Void, or a fallen Ascended: he is a wholly different sort of enemy for Runeterra to go up against.

Fiddlesticks' narrative is supposed to draw upon cosmic and religious horror, and his lead writer has expressed a desire to turn him into a proper harbinger of dark times ahead, a being that heralds the coming of greater terrors, which is also thematically cohesive with his gameplay focus of jumpscares and the spreading of fear in enemies.

Fiddlesticks could perhaps be a representation of the formless chaos of existence, the absence of sanity and logic, the concentrated discord of creation, or another darkness entirely, but he may very well be what Swain is so worried about. For, if such a nightmarish apparition is merely a harbinger of worse things to come, what kind of abominations could possibly be lurking on the horizon?

Interesting outlook on Fiddlesticks, it would actually be really interesting if what Swain fears most is not Mordekaisers return, but Fiddlesticks and what potential abominations are to come with him.

See, here's the thing: With a name like Fiddlesticks, which sounds like just something characters use in kid's cartoons because they can't curse, I can't take this character seriously.

It's pretty clear from the cinematography of Swain's trailer that the darkness is Mordekaiser, considering the doors slam shut behind him at the end showing the Noxus crest which is based on Morde's helmet with red glowing eyes.

That being said, I am interested to see what "ancient evil" Fiddlesticks is. The fact that he has some mechanical parts and may not turn out to be a demon in the same sense that Tahm and Eve are is super interesting. He's super scary already and he isn't even finished yet.

Wouldn't be surprising, as his new palette is very reminescent of that of Beatrice (black and red). I think that they'll be somewhat connected, even tho I'd personally prefer Fiddlesticks to be mysterious and unexplained.

I dunno if I really buy this theory. It would bee too much like a meme if Swain's raven demon was terrified of a murderous scarecrow, to the point where I think the lore would absolutely jump the shark if this was the case.

I'm with it.

to me fiddle looks like your typical local horror monster rather than a massive threat but depending on how the writers handle it and what theyre planning this could change.

Swain and Fiddlesticks have always been connected in my eyes just because of their use of foreboding birds. T?hen Swain straight up became a demon hybrid man, which is what Fiddle was as well. Can't not have something between them
