My theory on Pyke.

I have been thinking a bit about Pyke and his lore and came to the conclusion that his memories are partially true partially fabricated. I do not believe he was betrayed by his crew nor he was a sailor on the ship called "Terror" but i do believe he was indeed a sea monster hunter. Basically my theory is that those Jaull fishes are connected to the swimming city Pyke was hunting those fishes to make a living than he got eaten by one of them. Than some kind of entity revived Pyke and altered his memories with the goal to kill all capitans because in the eyes of the swimming city all capitans are a threat, either by roaming the seas or by hunting its inhabitants like the Jaull fish. So now pyke is nothing more than an agent of the city controlled by his delusions and altered memories.

Thoughts?

Solid theory I agree with everything.

Yep i think this is spot on, tho the Terror might be part of a larger conspiracy imo since FauxSchizzle mentioned that Pyke never lies, tho may get some details mixed, it's also worth noting that if Pyke ever falls in battle he'll be resurrected again and again by his masters. They'd have to have a reason to keep bringing him back

These observations were fairly self-evident. You want to make a debatable theory, try analyzing why the entity needs Pyke to cull specifically pirate captains; for what purpose/end goal or what's the implications of a Swimming City? etc.

Its dificult to brainstorm I can assure you because Pyke's story introduces quite few utterly new aspects to the lore, so theres no older lore with potentially relevant solutions. Even the most adept lore nerd should be in the dark like everyone else is. I would go further and say FauxSchizzle wouldn't know for sure yet.

With a cynical eye its just a hollow mystery designed for the audience to ponder and be confused over until they eventually get the chance explore it. I actually think we cant effectively theorize until a little more is revealed.
