@Riot: So, about that RPG skin splash art(s)
So, as I've said before, Riot's been doing a great job with splash arts, with a few exceptions, and while the art here is of phenomenal quality, there's one thing I'd like to point out about its composition that seems a glaring issue to me, one that has happened before.
So, Bard and Jayce: they're both large and prominent in their portions, front and center, taking up everything, and they look fantastic and detailed. It's great, I love it. But then....then there's Sejuani. Her design is good (though I think she should be in heavier armor), but she isn't even the focus of her own splash art. Nope, she's behind Jayce, who takes up fully half of her splash art. If it wasn't for the fact that they had to specifically blur Jayce, I wouldn't even be able to tell it was Sejuani's portion; heck, in blurring Jayce, they blurred half of her, too! If this was a single issue, sure, I could deal with it....except it isn't. It happened in Beast Hunter; she was placed within the background, with the damn creature not even part of the skin line getting more focus than her. She was literally shoved into a corner.
So, my question is: why?
Why is JAYCE in the front? SEJUANI is the tank; SHE is the initiator, the one who starts the fight and places herself smack dab in the middle of everything. She should be in the FRONT of this group, leading the charge, her and Bristle covered in armor, front and center, trampling everything in front of them; Thematically AND role wise, she should have the single most prominent position in this splash art. Gameplay and lore wise, Jayce is the pretty boy who pelts people at a range (his skin is soft and bruises easily) before he finally jumps in melee to finish off a weakened opponent. So, why don't we get to see Sejuani and her awesome Lion (Bristle) leading the charge? Instead, why is she BEHIND Jayce and Bard, people who should be behind her? Sejuani protects THEM. WHY is she once again getting shafted into the background, shoved into a corner, and literally sharing half of her splash art with Jayce when he and Bard get their own prominent sections to themselves. Why does it feel like SHE is the one being protected, instead of the other way around? As previously stated, you literally had to blur out Jayce for me to be even able to tell that was supposed to be Sejuani's splash.
What the heck, Riot? Why is this happening TWICE to her? Weren't you supposed to stop doing group splash arts specifically to avoid this? Weren't splash arts supposed to fulfill the fantasy of the character? Because for Sejuani, you did the exact opposite here. Again.
Since the model was released, I was looking forward to seeing her Splash with great enthusiasm. Instead, she doesn't even get one.
EDIT: Looked at the loading slice. Compared to the other two, it looks...weird. Her expression is bland, flat, while Jayce's is detailed, his teeth gritted. It's like the only put forth half the effort into hers. Come on, Riot.
A Rioter's comment/discussion would be appreciated.
