What gives with the lore?

What happened to the good old lore that Riot used to make? Now it's like one or two sentences at max.

This has been years in the making, which only goes to show Riot's "commitment" to their lore...

Back in 2011, Riot shut down the Journals of Justice, their first attempt to tell serialized stories with their champions. Soon afterwards, the League Judgments were also stopped. Since then, almost every rework (Kayle being the major exception) has had any reference to the Institute of War or the League of Legends removed from their story.

Since then, we've had a number of team changes, a metric-butt-ton of silence from an apprehensive Narrative department and a ton of resentment, anger and frustration from the fans.

Alright so here's the situation, about three-ish months ago riot announced the initiative to remove the league of legends from league of legends. As part of this initiative Riot is redoing every character's lore, Riot's plan is to place small lore on the client and place larger pieces on the website. This plan at the moment is being halted from happening because of technical issues and rewrites of their replacement lore. If you'd like to read some of the new lore they've released xerath's, azir's, and kalista's .

So basically at the moment we're in limbo of old lore dead and new lore not here yet :) .

I know that Riot can try a lot harder than this. You don't need a hire a huge number of people to get decent lore written out. Lore has been such a core part of League of Legends, and cutting it down to bare bones, even removing things that have already been written, is just a bad idea. It's as if Riot thinks that not enough people are interested in reading lore for it to be a worthwhile investment. Writing and maintaining lore is not a waste of time. There are plenty of people who are interested in it and I don't see how it can possibly make the game less appealing or hurt its image. We need lore back!

Well you see... One unfortunate day, the Lore department decided to go on a camping trip. And they never returned ever. So new ones were hired but they thought the way the lore was set up was much too constraining so they decided to start over. While I appreciate the effort they're putting into the game itself, through unique champions and the SR visual update and all, the lore was a big part of the game. Ritopls bring it back. But yea they don't really do lore anymore.

Guess I will never find out who J4's lover was. That sucks.

I think they have a lot of content in store for us but as mentioned before some technical difficulties have put things on hold for now.

That just means we'll have much more stuff when it's finally released- really looking forward to it.
