Mordekaiser VFX

Why did riot remove the original VFX for Mordes W? His W currently is just a circle compared to the old which was shards of metal orbiting him. I don't understand why these cool visuals got cut out. Currently there is no visuals to know wheather or not you are taking the dmg over time from his W which feels bad.
