Lets talk about Khada Jhin.. seriously.

Hello everyone, i hope you are all lore lovers and hopefully a lot more informed than i am on the topic Jhin Jhin .

Jhin Jhin has been my love ever since he got released. From his shape, clothes, voice, whispers, laughs, lines, skills, skins and all the way to the lore. The problem is that i need more. In everything that was given to us about Khada Jhin Jhin , all that i learned is that he's an artist that has an obsession with the number 4. His audience and puppets are selected by him, not random, and maybe he even has some kind of purpose (?) to killing these victims. Competition? Jealousy? Something from the past? What has shaped Jhin Jhin into an artistic murderer? From his speech, he's clearly educated. Maybe even coming from a rich family when he was a kid. How did he grow up into this person? Who did he meet along the way?

Well, i have a lot more questions than just that. But what really drove me to write this topic are 2 main things. 1: The Camille comic. In her comic (go read it if you haven't yet), there is a weird man that she calls a baron, but my heart skipped a beat at the thought of that man being Jhin Jhin . I froze here in my chair and studied the man carefully. His mask is... different? Or maybe that's his real face? His hair is long.. and his clothes are a bit different, with that huge, um.. hole in his heart? So maybe it wasn't him. Or at least i hope it wasn't him, as Camille easily killed him. He deserves more than that. Way more. And i think for the sake of fans, no LoL characters should be killed off in the comics. Otherwise my heart will bleed out and dry. And 2: I actually started writing my own Jhin Jhin lore, the base being the official story we get from LoL, with Zed Zed and Shen Shen as his rivals. From where the story left off, when they were supposed to battle, i continued only a little bit, but before i get to the action part, i want to know if there are more informations on Jhin Jhin , as i want to stay as true as possible to the man he really is in the League world. I also want to stay true to who each character is because i have a lot of respect for the characters and their creators.

TLDR; Are there any other lore sources for Jhin Jhin ? And am i allowed to write lore? I hope they're not copyright protected because i'll write the shit out of my husbando. Thanks!

Oh, one more thing, sorry if my english isn't always correct gramatically, i'm not english/american/canadian at all.

I have nothing constructive to add(Sorry) - But rest assured that your apology at the end isn't necessary at all. Your grammar/spelling are exponentially better than half of the threads I've looked through today, and most of them are native English speakers in the NA region.

[slayer-pantheon-popcorn] Don't mind me, just waiting for 4 Step Cadence to jump in here and leave a detailed analysis on this topic.

So first of all, yes, you are allowed to write your own "lore" for characters. I myself do everyday. I am Jhin, after all. My friend and I both have explored the depths of his character, from his first canvas to the evolution of his killing technique. There are also other works by countless other wonderful writers.

What I have managed to learn about him that is 100% canon by Riots standards is this;

  • His father was the head of a martial arts school somewhere within the province of Zhyun. This I got from the Wiki.

  • I believe, officially, that his father's school specialized in daggers and darts, though Jhin was never agile enough for this, preferring to use blades in slower, more precise moves. This caused his father to develop a disliking for his son, and is possibly what drove Jhin to be obsessed with being perfect. He wanted his father's approval. I also have no source for this information, I heard it from someone else.

  • Jhin has always had an interest in the arts, and probably studied them or even pursued a career in them behind his father's back.

  • Jhin would later become a stagehand in Zhyun's traveling operas, which is most likely where he learned most if not all of what he knows, as he got acting lessons among other things.

  • Adding on, Jhin's "mask" when not in his outfit is simply his face. However, his acting training allows him to better control the muscles in his face, which allows him to "change" it to appear normal and unassuming in a crowd. His acting training also allows him to keep him composure better, giving him better control over what little emotions he has.

  • This may have been where he learned to play the piano as well.

  • His victims do appear to be random, as he was most likely killing along the routes of the traveling operas he worked for. However, he always kills in 4s, no matter where he is or what he's doing.

  • He is noted to have killed "scores of travelers and sometimes entire farmsteads".

  • "Entire farmsteads" might be hinting that he's killed entire families.

  • Not so fun fact, but based off of a line from his color story, we can assume that he also removed his victims faces and wore them as masks.

  • However, since Jhin is now an assassin for the cabal that freed him, Jhin has less of a choice with some of his victims.

  • And no, he doesn't like this, and only really tolerates it so he can get to Zed & Shen.

  • And since he kills in 4s, the cabal is putting innocent people at risk for their own gain, because he's not just going to kill his target(s).

  • Khada Jhin is not his name, but a stage name. It means "Golden Excellence" in Ionian.

  • We have no indication of his true identity, be it his name, his age, his face, nothing.

  • He is 4 years older than Zed, though.

  • Due to miscommunications in the making of his artwork, Jhin's "official" appearance is not canon.

  • In the lore, his eyes are blue, not red-brown.

  • His arm is not mechanical, its just armor.

  • His weapons (in the lore) are as follows:

  • The Hextech Mass Accelerator: AKA, the thing on his shoulder. This is why he wears armor of his right arm. Its so powerful that, without the armor, it would shatter Jhin's arm like glass.

  • Whisper: Whisper is in-tune with Jhin's innate magical abilities as well as his Ki techniques. This coupled with the fact that its already magical makes Whisper a very lethal weapon.

  • His cane: Whisper's detachable barrel. When Jhin isn't performing, he uses it as a cane when he walks to "announce his presence".

  • His traps: We learned from awaken that these things are essentially bear traps, snapping closed when someone is unlucky enough to step on them, cutting open their flesh and sending magic coursing through their veins before detonating.

  • As noted above, Jhin does have innate magical abilities.

  • When creating the bullets for Whisper, he infuses them with his magic.

  • You can read Jhin's scrapped color story here.

  • Someone brought this to my attention a while back. However, the version they posted was a bit fucky due to the way this site is. So, I fixed it up and saved it in my Google Docs for easy access.

  • You can also watch Awaken, which I don't have the link to, to see Jhin in action.

  • There's also Of Rats and Cats and Neon Mice, which gives some insight into PROJECT: Jhin. While not canon to the main lore, its still interesting.

  • AH! How could I forget his champion insights?

  • As someone else already pointed out, Zed will be getting a comic later this year where he will be, presumably, hunting Jhin. Riot/Marvel, you have one job, do not fuck this up.

  • As for that comic, I have no idea what that's all about, but that doesn't sound at all like it could be Jhin, so don't worry about it.

Am I missing anything? I think... I think that's everything that's official. I just woke up, so pardon me if I missed anything.

I don't think the baron from Camille's comic is Jhin. The only connection that can be made is the location, as he is currently heading to Piltover/Zaun, but the timeline does not fit. The comic is set some time ago, and Jhin has not arrived yet. Also, as you said, they would not kill him this easily.

For more lore, I think that's it. He does not have many written pieces, but appears in "Awaken". Maybe you should check out his other color story which was the official german version, but I think it got replaced with his normal one: The man with the steel cane.

Now for some speculation: He might appear in a Marvel comic soon. After Ashe: Warmother and the ongoing Lux series, we will get a Zed comic where he "hunts down one of Ionias most deadly assassins". Most people think this is Jhin.

And am I allowed to write lore?

Obviously yes! Most writers will encourage you to continue their work, but keep in mind this is not official and should be called fanfiction instead of lore. If you want to share your piece, post it in Concepts & Creations. Story, Art and Sound is for discussion the official stories, C&C is for your own things.

4 Step Cadence has been summoned

He'll probably be able to help you out when he shows up. (And there's no way he'll ignore a Jhin thread.)

Jhin is kind of young, according to the In-Game Tooltip he is 3 years older than Zed, who is 22ish.

He was a decorator in a travelling theatre as you can read in his original color story, so his connection to culture and literature is pretty much there.

His name is "Khada"? I always thought it was "Four"

HIs normal skins "outfit" is that of an old man leaning on a stick with a hunched back.
