Gankplank was fine till he became a cyborg
The last step of the rework of our beloved captain was a horrible decision imo and i would like to point out why:
-
Players, especially new ones, will no longer find the Pirate Archetype they might be searching for in GP. The splash and model are going too far away from what a pirate is. If you would release the base skin you are planning to use as the extra skin that is earned by playing him, that would be just fine, nobody has to use it and it would expand the character. What comes to mind here is how new skins that would fit stories from the Journal of Justice were released a long time ago.
-
The artificial limb he has feels off when compared to other bilgewater characters, it seems more like something that should be in Zaun.
-
The Splash art looks horrible. The first reworked splash
looks epic as an icon and as a splash and tells us so much about the nature of Gankplank. This splash made me picture the way GP epicly walked towards Twisted Fate and Graves in the 2nd Act. The new Splash looks like GP is some kind of Cyborg Viking with a Pistol who wants to beat people up. -
His new icon looks really alien admist the other champion icons and you can hardly spot any distinctive features. He also still doesn't look like a pirate or seaman there.
I think the first relaunch of Gangplank, that came with his rework was a great succsess, while the newest skin change was a failure. I mean all that epic story we got told over a month has its climax in an ugly, unrecognizable new Base splash, when the latest one was the best splash ever made. That is really disappointing.
Lastly i have a question:
Which Voiceover are set for the old GP extra skins (Sailor, Spooky, Sultan, Special Ops, Toy Soilder, Minuteman) and does the Captain GP keep his "current" Voiceover?
