Tango Evelynn: Why lean towards human over demon?
With the discussion around tango Evelynn and the difference between the model and the splash art, I just wanted to ask a quick question to the community.
Why does it seem like the majority is leaning towards, make the model closer to the splash art as oppose to make the splash art closer the model? Is it simply because the minority is just louder? Or is it really because most Evelynn players prefer the personified version over the more familiar version?
This is something that I'm curious about. Because I look at my favorite champion Shyvana, and it annoys me that all her skins are personified, and only the classic skin plays off the fantasy of a monster. Yes, they all transform her into a dragon, but her pre transformation form has always been humanized. And honestly, there's nothing wrong leaning towards the human over the monster (especially when the character is trying to play off both sides) but when it applies to arguably all her skins, its saddening.
And when the tango Evelynn differences popped up, I thought " surely everyone would lean towards the one that plays off the non human fantasy, right? " Like the original tango Evelynn. Because the Unique fantasy of a champion is a huge reason why players fall in love with them. After all, champions are more than just Functions. You don't call one of the 130+ champions your favorite among all the rest, because they have a dash and a stun in their kit.
Anyway, I'm rambling now. But the question still stands. why lean towards the personified version over the one that plays off her conceptual Unique fantasy of a demon? After all, both shadow Evelynn and masquerade already explore a more human Evelynn
