I'm 50/50 on how I feel about Aatrox's new character - on the one hand, his old character (mysterious entity, legendary swordsmanship, turns the tide by turning men into monsters) was definitely something interesting, but on the other hand, his new character feels a hell of a lot more fleshed out.
He's not just some mythical warrior who many victories are attributed to - he's a prisoner who was broken by his captivity. Once a legendary warrior, now a being of hatred, a vessel of pure carnage and bloodlust who seeks to end the world that took a noble warrior to a ruinous, pathetic end.
And he's still got a fair amount of mystery and the poetic nature of old Aatrox to him, too.
"I touched the stars...And saw the glorious light of a thousand suns...Now, blinded by this elegance, how could my purpose be anything...But dark?"
And, I've seen a good dozen people remark about his "shitty German Rhaast" voice or his "shitty Russian Rhaast" voice...Here's the thing. His new voice is perfect for what he is now. He's a warrior on a self-destructive quest to bring about total annihilation. He needs a voice that you're going to love hearing him scream with.
He is literally Riven 2.0 even his ability icons look the same as Riven's lmfao is this some kind of a joke?
I think the real joke is that people are still equating Champion's kits to other Champion's kits instead of comparing.
Like, pardon the digression into Gameplay, but are we seriously calling Aatrox "literally just Riven" because he has a three-hit combo and a dash? Are we that shallow that we take two abilities at surface level and exclaim "COPYCAT", acting like they're EXACTLY like another Champion with a completely different kit?
It's fucking asinine.
Aatrox =/= Riven, much the same as Galio =/= Shen. The sooner people start comparing instead of equating kits, the sooner valuable Gameplay discussion can be had.

Oh - and, as an aside, I've played Pre-GPU Aatrox. I like the update, and I'm looking forward to playing Post-GPU Aatrox, and, while I can't say whether or not it will make him better in the Gameplay department, I'm definitely liking where his lore and design is going.
