Am I the only one that thinks that Riot completely ruined Urgots design?

Riot turned Urgot into a stupid looking muscle man in robot Exo suit. The old Urgot was a stitched together, amalgamation of flesh that felt like it was at least a little bit more unique and inspired instead of a humanized muscly version of Henry J. Waternoose.

Crabgot looks like it was ripped straight from Pacific Rim and almost looks like an iron man suit with separated armor pieces with just blue and red horns added on in post

Battlecast Urgot looks exactly how you would expect it to, Bland and uninspired. (granted the old one didn't look all that good)

Butcher Urgot is just new Urgot with a butcher apron and a mask with a slightly changed gun and some slightly changed legs (these legs look nothing like something that a butcher skin should have that would fit with the rest of the skin). The old Butcher Urgot seems similar but looks like how it should, scary. Old Butcher Urgot had at least a few things going for it, it had a few things such as twisted piles of flesh for his body with multiple tubes going into him which made him look like a scary manufactured character who is no longer entirely human.

Well we might as well get downvoted together.

I wrote this post earlier:

So, Urgot was the second champion I bought (I believe it's been awhile either 2nd or 3rd). I think that makes me a heretic. I liked him right away. In a game full of Adonis's, happy looking gofers, manly men, and womanly woman. Here was this half rotten desecrated corpse. You could literally see that his skin was stretched out and ripping over the machines keeping him alive. Tubes and ripples burst forth and pustules littered his body. He was disgusting.

I was and in a way still am excited for the rework. Urgot's gameplay needed to be tuned to be less schizophrenic, and while his design was awesome it definitely showed his age. But some of the hints we kept getting about him kind of warned me beforehand. References to how awesome he was going to be. I even made a post that said "no, awesome is not the way to go. 90% of the champions are awesome in some way. Urgot is disgusting." A few comments that if there aren't people posting that the new Urgot splash doesn't make people say they feel like they're going to vomit, that they didn't go far enough.

Now that proved pretty true. His gameplay looks great. His animations look amazing. That ult? Damn that's brutal. 100% approved.

But they lost the disgusting. His design isn't a rotting corpse propped up in a painful shell of life. It's some badass Bane looking wannabe with spider legs. The rotten flesh, the glowing scars, the disturbing proportions are gone. Hell even his splash he's getting a tattoo, sitting like some 80s comic anti-hero. You can just taste the machismo.

And I know it's my own fault. I'm the one that got so hyped for this. It was the one rework I was actually excited for. And I just can't help but feel a little disappointed. I'm still going to play him. I'm certain the gameplay will be fun as hell. But I was hoping they would keep what was core to the character for me. Just this once

And I stand by it. Though I can't really blame Riot. Body Horror the champion will never, ever be as popular as murder machine 5000. Redesigning him this way makes sense. And it is also why we will both be downvoted to oblivion. This will be a near universally enjoyed design. Which is part of the problem. Very few people liked Urgot's old design. For the exact reasons I thought he was so unique. He was disgusting, malformed, stitched together mess. His body and voice weren't about how cool and badass he was like most other champions. It was a poor sod begging to be put out of his misery. That's not a power fantasy most people want to play. Hell that's not a power fantasy at all, and just about every other champion is about fulfilling a power fantasy in one way or another. He was the odd man out. It was part of why he was so unpopular, but it was the exact reason I thought he was great.

But even then, I can't say it's completely ruined for me. It's not like the bullshit of turning Pantheon into a space parasite. In this they took parts of the character that were already there. Only previously, the "Urgot is a strong, powerful man on a weapons platform" was firmly behind the "Urgot is a monstrosity who wants it all to end." Now they are emphasizing the weapons platform, which was never what I cared about. And completely ignored that he was the last true grotesque in League.

Oh well. At least the gameplay and animations are well done.

While I am also a bit sad that they turned down the body horror I do think that you are partially complaining just for the sake of complaining.

I mean new Urgot is still clearly missing his lower half, there is no way this is just a robot exosuit.Heck it even looks like new Urgot is missing more of his body than old Urgot.

Don't like his Crabman-Bane aestetic. Love the new kit.

I believe they could've stuck with some of the old lore when designing Urgot, but he may have ended up being too similar to Sion. I like most of the new design, but I'll miss the old acid hunters and the niche pick that only a rare few seemed to do well with.

Trying to get to level 7 mastery before the change hits, I've been sitting at level 6 for far too long.

Also, as a side note, the new crabgot design upsets me. It's a damned cool skin, don't get me wrong, but I'm DEFINITELY going to miss the silly abomination design of old crabgot.

Riot destroys character design and lore on a regular basis. The sad part is I know better and I still get attached to champion designs or lores only to be disappointed yet again.
