I Demand Clarification

Me and a friend are arguing like mad for two reasons.

One, is Azir a ascended. As in, he is no longer mortal. As in anthropomorphic Falcon bird thing and not a human under a mask. Threw some miraculous ways ascended like Susan Nasus and Renae Renekton . I am saying Yes and my friend is (for the love of god, annoying me because of this) no. That he is human. It's impossible for him to even be alive if that was the case.

Second, If he is even a shred of dignity of being right. He has to be a blood born ghost that is not human and is a ghost of a to be ascendant. Tell me!

Azir is ascended. That's what the whole ritual was for. It backfired and was an imperfect ascension, and he only received his actual ascension after saving Sivir's life, but he is ascended.

That being said, man, don't have big arguments with good friends over silly stuff like "Is bird man full bird or bird suit?". Don't risk a good friendship on that :(

I was actually going to post a theory on this last night but thought sleep was a better idea. I actually agree with your friend that Azir is not Ascended or rather he's not a "true" Ascended, like Ren and Nasus. Xerath undoubtedly corrupted the process. The fact that Azir wears a golden helm instead of showing a true animal head like ren and nasus is enough for me. In fact, his ingame model has a hollow section that suggests that the his face is hidden beneath.

None of his lore art or splash art support this but that might be due Unreliable narrators. All the lore comes from the perspective of people that believe Azir reached true ascension despite his "death". I think in the lore videos, Nasus was lied to by Azir and simply retelling these lies as assumed truth and fact. The end scene with the shift in style, is much too Dues Ex Machina for it not to be a lie or decption. Or prehaps Azir is completely delusional or deeply in denial of his corrupted Acsension. OR the Lore writers are just shit and have a few plot holes that need to be paved in.

If you're interested in the story of azir take a look at these 2 new stories riot has come out with for him and his enemy xerath.

Azir http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/zmvrQ7I6-short-stories-azirarisen

Xerath http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/RdkEIREJ-short-stories-xerathunbound

If you just want to prove yourself right over your friend take a look at this passage from azir's story

It was too much, but no tears welled in Azir’s eyes. His Ascended form rendered that simple act of grief forever lost to him.

If you watch the videos, he is human and that is his armor. I haven't read anything however so don't take my word for it. However, there is no reason that he can't be ascended only because he's human?

Azir is Ascended, yes. Azir/Nasus/Renekton are all ascended, and Xerath is improperly ascended, which is why he looks different.

Yes, he is ascended

Azir ascended many years later, after he was revived by Sivir's blood.

Xerath basically took Azir's place in the Ascension ritual by force, though it seems that caused his Ascension to go funny, even if it still worked,

He ascended very recently thanks to Sivir getting stabbed.
