I don't know, the current live one seems to have a disgusted facial expression whereas the first one was more elegant looking.
Its the face that just throws me off, also that chin. This is just my opinion though.
I was thinking the same thing. The newest splash art seemed to have make her eyes more seductive to fit her whole theme of being a foxy lady. However, it still don't make her sexy enough. I feel like riot is focusing now more on color, texture, and background of splash art, but losing a lot of the theme and personality of the characters. Well in most cases they did a good job. It's nice art, my only qualm is that they really didn't need a new splash for her, her old one still held up really well.
I honestly like the old one better, but I see why people complained. It just didn't look that much like Ahri. The new one looks more like her, but I agree, less enchanting overall.

How about neither? I think the splash is great, minus the face. Neither face really does it for me. The first doesn't look like Ahri at all - I feel like the artist doesn't really draw Asian faces and decided to just give her a westernized look and chalk it up to interpretation. But obviously that didn't fool anyone. So then he tried Asia-fying the face but again he's no expert in drawing Asian faces so again no one was fooled.
I honestly think something halfway between the two face styles would be nice, minus the awkward chin.
Both are extreme ends of the spectrum and put off a lot of people. If I had to choose one face style it'd be the older one which was never used.
I love the newest splash... She's gorgeous.
In the champ select you can only see her right eye pupil. The left doesn't even look like she has one, the atmosphere is too dark and the skin is too light. & yeah her chin is massive. Ahri has a round face this one is so defined for some reason.. pose is also strange. I swear if Riot doesn't even fix the chin or make any edits...
Both are pretty bad. First one is out of proportion second is less shitty but looks kind of derpy and the chin looks wierd.
I don't like either. I probably wouldn't have cared as much if they changed the original, but because it was changed to this, I hate it. It's not attractive whatsoever, the background is dank and dark, the face is terrible, the pose is awkward, and Riot was too stubborn to make a new one.
Even new one before fixing still better than fixed. Need old one back.
I like the eyes of the newest one 10x more than the crazy eyes of the original reworked one. The chin is kinda meh tho. Also people keep complaining about the boobs getting "nerfed" but im 99% sure they now have more volume however they're just at a less showy angle. not that it matters :^)

Only problem I have with the new splash is her eyes aren't looking at the viewer like the original version of it. Just kinda looks like she's looking off into space. But otherwise I prefer the new version of it. Please don't hurt me.
I generally prefer her skin splash arts over either of the new base arts; oh well.
I do find it funny how they postponed a good art because of all the nerd-rage and when the updated it they still got the nerd rage but didn't care about it this time. Honestly, the best decision would be to ignore those who own Ahri pillowcase and just stick with logic. Also this guy who draws "Ahri splash art" will not never get his art accepted by Rito unless he learns to draw something other than anime style.
Bad luck Brian Rito. Create a champion whos central role is being a sexual object. Innocently assume that they can simply change her appearance afterwards.
