Aurelion Sol's biography was a big reveal for at least two other champions: Kayle and Morgana.

TL;DR ** Kayle and Morgana are members of the ancient spacefaring race that enslaved Aurelion Sol, the Targonians, who battle the Void incursion of Runeterra **

First, let's review some key points of their history as it stands as stated on their League of Legends pages.

Kayle "In a world far away where an ancient war still rages, Kayle was a great hero - the strongest of an immortal race committed to destroying evil wherever it could be found." [emphasis mine] "Ten years ago, Kayle's war against evil was nearly won... until her rebellious sister Morgana, a pariah amongst their people, suddenly gained powerful new allies: magicians of a hitherto unknown world called Runeterra. Morgana traded servitude to a number of the summoners in Runeterra's League of Legends for powerful new abilities that, if mastered, threatened to bring Kayle and her people to their knees." [both emphasis mine]

Morgana "One side proclaimed themselves as beings of perfect order and justice, fighting to unite the world under their law and strong central governance. Those that fought against them saw their kin as tyrants, creatures incapable of seeing the larger view, who would sacrifice individuality and freedom for the illusion of efficiency and safety." "Morgana was one who fought against what she perceived as the tyranny of her kind, and for that she was branded ''fallen.''"

Now, we know that their bios have to be re-written. It is based around the existence of the Institute of War. We have just seen our first glimpse of what will be.** Kayle and Morgana are members of the ancient spacefaring race that enslaved {{summoner:2}} Aurelion Sol: the Targonians. **

These are the quotes that I believe strongly align with the fundamentals of their background, which suggests that my hypothesis is correct.

{{summoner:2}} "A powerful magic now yoked Aurelion Sol, forcing him to wield his powers exclusively for Targon’s benefit."

Control of a central power. Kayle

{{summoner:2}} "He battled chitinous beasts that tore at the fabric of this universe."

The fight vs. evil Kayle

{{summoner:2}} "For millennia, he fought Targon’s wars, crushed any threats to its dominance, and helped it forge a star-spanning empire." "Then, he felt it–a weakening in his unwilling pact. The voices from the crown grew sporadic, clashing, arguing with each other while some fell ominously silent."

Civil War Morgana

{{summoner:2}} "An unknown catastrophe he could not fathom had thrown off the balance of those who bound him. They were scattered and distracted."

The Rebellion Morgana

So what do we learn about Kayle & Morgana ?

  1. The name of their species and homeland. They are Targonians. Their home is on the other side at the top of Mount Targon. Their people bequeath power to those they choose, which can have a profound impact on the world.

  2. They are space farers.

{{summoner:2}} "These chosen few sought to unravel the secrets of the universe and had already expanded beyond their home planet."

  1. Their society seems to be based on magic because of the way that Aurelion Sol is caught -

{{summoner:2}} "...a splendorous crown of star-gems"

This could also lend itself towards a sort of magic-tech similar to that seen in Kayle's legendary skin.

  1. Their society is unable to see the bigger picture.

{{summoner:2}} "he became fascinated by their fledgling civilizations, who crafted amusingly self-centered philosophies on the nature of his stars."

  1. Their society has enslaved Aurelion Sol.

  2. Kayle's side seems to have been manipulating the Solari to do their bidding as well as the aspects, though Morgana's side could also affect aspects.

  3. Morgana's side may be connected to the Lunari.

  4. Whatever happened was due to their arrogance.

{{summoner:2}} ""This world was lost the moment Targon surrendered itself to arrogance.""

  1. They oppose the Void on Runeterra.

{{summoner:2}} "I lance out beams of pure starfire and incinerate wave after wave of those gnashing horrors, driving them backward into their oblique infinity."

  1. They can destroy the stars themselves, which they use to punish Aurelion Sol.

{{summoner:2}} "My head snaps up, and my eyes drink the bitter sight of a dying star."

However, there is still a lot more to discover about the land beyond the mountain. We cannot assume anything outside of the core pillars of a champion's biography will remain after the rework. What was the catastrophe in Targon that Aurelion Sol felt? Why did it happen? How else will it affect the world?

Honestly its the first thought that popped into my head. Its pretty much either this or completely retconning Morgana and Kayle. +1 for fully worked out theory tho.

I doubt it,I mean the other aspects seem to need human bodys to exist in runeterra, yet kayle and morgana don't seem to be like that.

Though it is of course not impossible, maybe the true nature of the targonians are really angels,I mean it would kinda fit their old lores(otherworldly homeworld that seems to be plagued by internal conflict)

This all just seems like a huge stretch on your part.

While it's not a bad theory, it has its holes.

  1. Kayle and Morgana are the leaders of their people and the rebellion, respectively. Wouldn't one of them have thrown Aurelion Sol at the other by now?
  2. Aurelion Sol has a huge list of unique taunts and banter, but nothing for either of them.
  3. Aurelion Sol is not listed as allied or enemies with them, when logically he would be allied with one and enemies with the other.

Unfortunately it's far more likely the lore team still doesn't know what to do with Kayle and Morgana, though I wouldn't put them past a tie-in. If Targon really is on multiple worlds, and they really are both magical and manipulative, it's entirely possible they're responsible for Morgana's fall and the ensuing war, perhaps as an attempt to sweep in and take over the ashes. If that were true, I can only imagine the panicked reactions from the Targon champions if those two ever found out...
