Ekko's time-rewind

Hello,

I'm not much of a forum goer and am currently on this rather obscure account because the EU boards don't have a story/art section... But I noticed something about the new champion, Ekko, that I'd like to point out (you'll have to excuse me if it already has been, I have not checked the huge amount of topics present on this board. =>)

So, if my information is accurate, Ekko's time travel mechanic heals him of broken bones and wounds, but he still feels their pain after the time-jump, which is the basis for his 'partial healing' mechanic, correct?

In addition, this statement was made in the Ekko Q&A,

"Ekko ages in or out of time-travel. In fact, you might see him beat the tar out of someone and make it look like he saw everything coming, and made every move perfectly the first time. However, in that 30 seconds, Ekko actually experienced that same span of linear reality over 200 times until he got it right.
In other words, in that 30 seconds, Ekko aged 1 hour and 40 minutes."

Now here comes my point of interest: from my perspective, these 2 statements contradict each other. As 'aging' is simply the degradation of the body as time passes (put in very simple terms) I do believe that if Ekko were to 'rewind' time as he does, that aging would be undone like any other broken bone or flesh wound would. So while one could make the argument that he mentally ages for "1 hour and 40 minutes" in those 30 seconds and therefor is a much more adult person stuck in a child's body, from a physical point of view I don't think his body can 'age' 1 hour and 40 minutes in the way it was claimed.

A nitpick to be sure, but perhaps this minor inconsistency can be corrected and/or explained (or perhaps even disproved) now that it is pointed out.

Kind regards, Vennax

The way I understand it the Z-drive isn't your typical time machine. It's not just "go to this time" or something like that, it works like an anchor. When he turns it on it makes a snapshot of Ekko and his place in time, and when the rewind is triggered it pulls Ekko back to that point. Because it's effectively technology that's the first of its kind that we known about we can assume it has some severe limitations, and it likely operates around the idea of "return to the anchored point as reasonably as possible".

This means the drive will fix major damage to Ekko to the best of its capabilities but small things like changes in cells and very small cuts and scrapes don't get fixed. As a result pain continues to linger in Ekko because it's a response to damage that did actually happen. The whole thing works more like an undo than a rewind because if it was a rewind, everything including Ekko's memories would be rewound to that point, and he would never actually improve on anything because he would forget why he even rewound in the first place.

It's actually very dangerous technology with that in mind because it's essentially displacing Ekko's body in time; some elements of his body don't get completely reset while other parts do. The ramifications for Ekko later down the line if he doesn't improve this technology are potentially going to get him killed and also cause some kind of temporal disturbance that Zilean and Bard might freak out about.

All in all I'd say chalk it down to Ekko's Z-drive being imperfect and inherently flawed due to both how it was made and how it operates. Hopefully this all makes some kind of sense to somebody, because looking at it now I'm not even sure if what I said makes sense to me!

Yea.... Same....

The thing is, does it actualy matter? I'm pretty sure the Rioter who said the second statement (don't remember who it was) wasn't thinking about all the details in that moment. Just imagine it all fits together nicely ;)

I think that it only reverts ekko partially. You know it doesn't heal him completely, but only partly and thus it only resets his "aging" partially.

I mean it was noticeable how Ekko couldn't move his arm anymore after it got crushed by that brute, but it did look a lot better than it should be,which would fit nicely with ekkos ult,as that heals only X% of the damage that he received in the last 4 seconds.
