The things you feel when you play a champion: What are your favorites?

Hey guys! The reworks Riot have blessed us with have been great. The main thing is that they seem to highlight the thematic feeling over the the mechanics. Irelia players loved that old stun of hers so taking it away and replacing it comes with the chance of spooking away the original fans of it. The new stun is not only less binary, but it also contributes to the player feeling like a telekinetic warrior. I started playing Pantheon again. Pantheon is a champion who currently has a kit that doesn't leave a lot of room for variation. What the current Pantheon DOES have is that feeling of being a nuclear-powered human missle that has no qualms about leaping one million miles into space and crushing the skull of the yordle that thought his precious mastery 7 was going to protect him from your girthy quads. Pantheon feels the spartan version of Doom Guy. Replace his spear, give him skillshots, adjust his stun, it doesn't matter...if they keep the feeling of being a ridiculous Chuck Norris-level warrior I'll be fine.

There are some other great ones. Playing Kled does make me feel like a psychotic drunken yordle desperately charging in to battle knowing that my loyal steed will come to my rescue. Fiora has me arrogantly picking nasty fights to prove I am probably going to win.

What champion captures the emotions for you as a player? Are there any you'd like to emphasize more in a rework in the future?

Jhin gave me chills when I first played him. Just the low, calm tone of his voice is unsettling, and hearing it when he's on the enemy makes it all the more trouble. That coupled with the fact that he whispers to you when you step on his traps is just terrifying. Now though, well, I do feel a rush of excitement when a performance is going my way. When I do poorly though, I do feel disappointed, even angry at times. This is only something that happens with Jhin, though. Every other champion is just fun to play, and I don't get mad when I do poorly with them. With Jhin, though, I feel compelled to do my absolute best because I know that's what Jhin would want.

Warwick is similar in the sense that Blood Hunt makes me lose my shit every time it activates, especially in ARAM where I often have to wait to engage. Just pacing under turret, waiting impatiently for the moment to strike.

Zoe really brings out who I am in real life. Just a very bubbly, cute person who can and will fuck you up if I have to.

Warwick. Tunnel-vision. Blood.

For real though, hearing the bells ringing during Blood Hunting and watching the screen flood red just really gets me in the mood to drop what I'm doing, barrel down into lane and give that poor, wounded soul a chem-fueled mauling. It's gr8.

The Diver class as a whole is my preferred play style. I main Pantheon, gameplay-wise for his rework I would like to see more variation with the combos in his kit, while keeping that feeling of jumping into the enemy team and killing them off one by one. Lorewise, I am also interested to see how he stacks up against other Aspects like Taric and Zoe.

For this reason as well Rakan is my favorite support and I recently started playing Aatrox who delivers well on a grand swordmaster theme, though I wish they kept more of his old W. Being able to control his Blood Well was a really unique and fun concept, I hope they do some exploration into it in the future.

I'd sure love to feel like an unhinged force of uncontrollable destruction when playing Jinx, but playing like that would just reduce my effectiveness in helping my team.

There's something therapeutric that I feel playing auto attack centric melee champions, preferably possessing some sort of innate AS steroid and gaining something from hitting people. Taric and Shen are my overall favourite champions to play because of this - There's instant, consistent feedback and reward to your attacks as with the former you get bonus damage and CDR and with the latter you get bonus damage and energy. I generally have a fondness for champions with passives that emphasise this sort of behaviour since it naturally encourages you to play them properly; it flows together to make champions easier to play efficiently and feel like you're doing your job properly if that makes sense.

Lucian's a good example of this. I suck at ADCs because my orb walking is terrible and I cancel all my autos, but because of his passive I end up kiting much more effectively since there's a natural rhythm and goal to work with: Spell cast, auto auto, spell cast, so on. It's genius really, and feels really satisfying.

I main Rammus and there's nothing like righteous glory powerballing in between minions and around walls to lock someone down who blew everything to try to escape. At that speed, enemy skillshots look like they're in slow motion. Speed and reliable lock down are probably my favorite things to play. Rammus has the added bonus of being a pretty nasty duelist at some points in the game.

For me, I absolutely love the satisfaction of having a good game with Xerath. It really makes you feel like an all-powerful arcane demigod, blasting your foes with deadly energy beams and raining down destruction on any fool who thinks they can flee from your wrath with your ultimate.

On that note, I find that Aurelion Sol offers a similar sort of vibe, but I don't think he quite lives up to that all-dominant power fantasy. While I don't think you necessarily need to make him super OP, I do think that his current kit fails to REALLY capture the feeling of being an all-powerful star dragon, since, lets be honest, a lot of his kit is actually fairly easy to avoid if you're not just standing still in a single place. I don't think they need to totally rework his kit, but I definitely think it could use some adjustments.
