Summoner recton question and thoughts

This has been bugging me for some time now and honestly I'm just posting so I can get some clarification on this (and anyone else that might be confused). I've been following the recent lore changes, as most of us have, and while I won't express my full disapproval on the changes (I could write a book on what I feel went wrong and what is going on at this point) as there wouldn't be a point. The point has been beaten to death more than Hecarim and Riot seems to stand by what they are doing.

Good for them I suppose on that front, expect for this. If anyone reads the patch notes, which I'm almost positive everyone does, they'll see this at the top: "BY RIOT PWYFF Hi Summoners,..."

At first, I thought that everyone at riot was adjusting to the most jarring and almost 180 like change I've ever seen and that not everyone was aware of the recent chances. I said, "alright, everyone is a little behind that's fine." But then three more patches came out (and two patch rundowns) where the phrase "summoners" were used. To my knowledge, summoners and summoning aren't part of lore or canon anymore.

This irks me for a number of reasons and maybe it's just me. To me, Riot thinks they can just cherry pick when something can be usable or canon despite all the information they have just provided us. That either they really aren't paying attention to the lore, story and basic information that they themselves use, or that communication between Riot's own staff is really, really bad.

I get it, summoners were a cool way to not only immerse players into the game, but to give us unique titles they we can be addressed by. It would be a real shame of for some reason we couldn't be called that anymore because it sure was easily identifiable...

It may seem minor (I mean, it's just the patch notes right?) but it isn't, not to me at least. If they are going to completely change the world they established (which is... for another time) then they have to abide but the new rules which they have made. The rule being, there are no summoners, we are not summoners and (my opinion here) I feel insulted being called a summoner by the people who removed it from existence.

Unless I am wrong about the summoner recton which could be the case. I've been very rather frustrated with the new lore direction and could have misread or misinterpreted what was being said.

If anyone has any clarification or thoughts on the matter, I would be like to hear them.

No, they all know whats up. Essentially this:

"Players are still refered ot as Summoners but will not affect the lore."

Yeah. It's supercalifragalisticexpialabullshit.

If they don't want us in the Lore... just call us... and bear with me here... "Players"

I love being a summoner... but they have turned that into a reminder of the old lore and at this point it is an insult to me.

Hey you know how much you love the old lore and IoW and summoners? well don't worry "Summoner" that is all gone.

Fuck that. Eat your cake or have your cake... don't try both.

Simply it would be too much of an hassle to find another way to address players and explain it to the playerbase. Just like it was too much of an hassle to write things for the old canon. And they evidently don't like breaking a sweat.
