I can't be the only one who has noticed the new correlation, could this be a new theme, lore or story of sorts? Can anyone confirm this, or deny? Would be cool if they did do a piece, Dark star vs star guardians ect ect, like they did with project
Oleandervine2 votesThey've stated that Dark Stars are not correlated with the Star Guardians or the Super Galaxy. The Dark Stars are based on eldritch, Cthullu horrors in space. Super Galaxy and Star Guardians are based on anime. There's no relationship between the Dark Stars and anything else.

That's cute and all, but Rioters have actually stated that the Dark Stars are not related to the Super Galaxy or Star Guardians. KateyKhaos said as much on her Ask.fm.

Not sure why people are so dead set on linking everything together just because they share common themes. Mecha and Project don't have to be in the same fantasy, just like Super Galaxy and Star Guardians don't have to be in the same fantasy. Exploring different stories for skins doesn't mean that every skin line that shares a basic theme is suddenly going to have to exist in the same universe. Jean Luc Picard and Luke Skywalker don't exist in the same universe, despite the "Star" in the title and the space travel themes; Sailor Moon doesn't exist in the same story as Gundam; Almost none of the Final Fantasy games exist in the same storyline. So please, unless Riot explicitly states it, don't pigeonhole their creativity by locking out the ideas they may have planned if they begin fearing that it may upset the fan fictions of the community.

Plus people see SG and DS going in a particular direction... It's very similar to character shipping but more universe shipping. Getting your undergarments in a wad isn't helping your case. You're arguing against people who are HOPING that this is a thing. They're not saying "ohh this is in fact what Riot intended".
These more of a yin and yang feel rather than a robot vs android feel. Plus the mecha champs are shown to be massive while the project champs are not...
I agree that super galaxy and star guardian don't really come from a place that could be correlated with star guardians.... if Riot wanted them to be in the same universe that wouldn't be a bad thing though...
In all honesty they can easily make an animated series about the star guardian training to become the next protector of the planet from the Dark star invaders. The Super Galaxy skin could be a rival school introduce in a tournament arc. I dont have to explain this anime watcher know what it mean

I wouldn't say make them sworn enemies but similar but separate factions with their own objectives that tend fight with each other because of their goals but still share a common threat (The "Void") which threatens both the Dark Stars and Star Guardians objectives.

The Dark Stars don't have enough fleshing out though, other than Thresh is Galactus, and Varus is the Silver Surfer. There isn't enough story to draw correlations between the two. The Dark Stars don't even remotely resemble villains in a magical girl anime. I think the correlations only come from the "Star" in the name, and that's it. I think there's much more creative potential in making a separate, dedicated villain group for the Star Guardians.
Thresh has already been developed too far independently of the Star Guardians for the Dark Star line to be folded in - it would be a tactless retcon if they suddenly became villains, because none of Thresh's new voice lines remotely acknowledge how they would interact. The Dark Stars are eldritch horrors. As in Lovecraft horrors that cross the universe consuming all life and sanity. Thresh drains life and light from everything to feed his hunger. He's not some blundering incompetent villain like Jessie and James or Queen Beryl. They can't even capture an electric rat, or annihilate 5 children with a massive army. Thresh is a horror. A terrible fiend that drives people insane on contemplating him. He is the Cthullu of League. He isn't even in the same ball park as the Star Guardians, let alone the same story. He is an entire level of seriousness that does not belong in the lightheartedness of the Star Guardians. It wouldn't make any sense to try to tie them together because thematically, they're just too different. The inspirational stories that the Dark Star line is paying homage to is the Dark God who will remove your limbs and replace them with tentacles, and cover your skin in his ancient unspeakable runes, and watch you suffer as it does such acts to you to test the limits of your sanity. The Star Guardian line, conversely, are based on perky and cheery school girls, and juggle high school against fighting bad guys who use gimmicks such as magic jewelry and enchanted arcade machines to entrap them. There is no comparison, which is why this need to not be a thing, and instead, people need to start begging for the Queen Beryl of the Star Guardians and her troupe of incompetent lieutenants who give the girls trouble, but never enough that they can't overcome it with love and friendship.

Honestly it gets kinda annoying that you pretty much see a new "are dark star and star guardian related?"-thread in the boards every day,when Riot already CONFIRMED that these 2 are not related...

Anyways, my point is that skins and champions can be based in many different things... In the case of Dark Star Thresh, he is mainly based on the Anti Spiral "Granzeboma", Galactus and Cthullu. The Anti Spiral being a "character" from an anime, Super Galaxy Rumble is also based on a character from that Anime (Gurren Lagann).
However, being based on similar things do not mean necessarily that they are in the same "skin-universe", after all, the Deep One Kassadin is also based on Cthulhu Mythos and its not similar to the Dark Star Skins.
