Void Event coming? Let me convince you!

Alright, hear me out on this one, because I know it's been said and done many, many times before. But I mean, there's so much evidence that the Void is about to play a big part in something, it's tough to ignore. Let's look at the facts:

Diana's new lore story had this segment: "Cold and needing shelter for the night, Diana sought refuge within the cave. Inside, the narrow cleft widened into the crumbling ruin of what might once have been a temple or vast audience chamber. Its crumbling walls were painted in faded frescoes depicting warriors of silver and gold fighting back to back against an unending host of grotesque monsters as the sky rained comets of searing light."

Coupled with the end of Leona's new lore entry, which had this nice little tidbit: " It gifted her with incredible powers and awful knowledge that haunted her eyes and weighed heavily upon her soul; knowledge she could only ever share with one person. Now, more than ever, Leona knew she had to find Diana."

That's two obvious connections of Leona and Diana against some awful threat, but it's still no confirmation that it's the Void.

This is where it starts to get fun. Aurelion Sol's release story has him going right up against some Void portals, throwing a baby star at one. He specifically has one little bit where he thinks to himself: "A pulsing sickness lingers in the air. From the epicenter of the corruption, I feel a will... hungry and indomitable, and far from the typical mindlessness I'm accustomed to from these Voidborn aberrations. The pulsating wound on reality yawns and buckles, distorting and warping all it touches. Whatever exists on the other side is laughing."

The League's snarkiest dragon senses something super scary and powerful on the other side of the Void portals. Okay, so we have a connection to the Void now. And obviously, something is coming now that Aurelion Sol is back and those glyphs in Diana's story featured both her and Leona fighting against the Voidborn underneath his comet.

-Up next is Taric, who since re-release has had plenty of animosity towards the Void, but my favorite being this quote here: "As the Protector’s whispers faded, Taric received a final warning: He would stand as the Shield of Valoran, but crashing against him would be a wave of howling madness, an ocean of gnashing teeth intent on consuming all, a squalid horror born of the Void."

Okay, so obviously Targon is -definitely- aligned against the Void. But what massive threat could potentially be looming on the other side? Popular fan theories from eons past are Kog'Maw's daddy and Kassadin's daughter, though I definitely believe the former is far more likely at this point, seeing as how Kog himself refers to his 'daddy' as 'terror'.

I had thought my theories ending, but Taliyah herself and the newest tidbits about her birthplace are also tying into this whole deal. Taliyah features her fair share of taunts and interactions with Voidborn, and it's mentioned rather candidly that she's from relatively close to Icathia, which she also references by name. Interactions with Kassadin and Malzahar, who until literally just now have been completely ignored lore-wise, minus a couple throwaway lines (that are apparently also unused) from Battlecast Vel'Koz.

TL:DR Targon lore update and Taliyah are dropping major hints at something big coming from the Void, so don't read the TLDR and go look at the hints you jabroni. >:C

Am I crazy? Has literally anyone else noticed all these Void references? Have there been a bunch of other threads like this that I simply can't find? Let me know dudes. This theory has been burning in me for a while but I've been way too lazy to compile all my evidence until now. <3

I've been keeping track of the steady up-turn in Void references in the Lore. And I'll reiterate my thoughts on the Void in the form of copy-pasta:

I'm honestly hoping it turns out that there's more to the Void than 'no, they're totally not Tyranids from another plane of existence'.

The Will that Sol felt was obviously intelligent. So are the Voidborn. Intelligent things typically don't go around destroying stuff for kicks and giggles. They have reason for what they do. Something motivates them. So here's a completely random concept based in part on Cho's selection quote.

Chogath "Death will not be the end for you. I have seen to it. For eternity, you are mine."

Imagine for a moment that the Void is a place wholly alien to the structured universe of Runeterra. We already know that Voidlings don't react quite right to physical forces they don't really 'get'. Sol told us as much. So let's take that a step further. In the Void, physical law does not exist in any way we could relate to. There are no external physical constants. There is only Will. What is 'real' becomes a plastic, flowing thing shaped by the Wills that inhabit the Void. These Wills consume, but nothing ever really dies. They're just drawn into the purpose of the stronger Will.

What would such beings see in a world like Runeterra?

Chogath "Such... hideous creatures..."

They would see a world calcified in form. Seared by burning light and suffocated by smothering law. A place where the pitiless, merciless march of unyielding physical reality destroys Wills. A place where Wills die forever, where their rotted, festering remains are gorged upon by Nagaboros and vomited back out as mockeries scoured of the minds that once were. A place where things perish and cease to be. A place where Wills wither under the tyranny of unfeeling rules that serve only to perpetuate an endless cycle of purposeless suffering.

If any of the Wills that dwell in the Void are capable of feeling anything like empathy, how could they allow such a hideous, existentially terrifying place to continue existing when it's within the realm of their ability to end it?

And end it they will.

In the only way they know how.

Chogath "Om nom nom nom nom!"

I've been tying a lot of the lore events together, and there was a roaming theory not too long ago that the seal that Aurelion Sol created that destroyed a large swath of land became the Crystal Scar, which makes sense considering the fact that it's a large Circle (the same as Aurelion Sol's star). But things about the Void have become more and more commonplace, and there are a lot of events that keep talking about a great change or struggle to come, even as far away as Bard's reveal as he only appears in times of great cosmic importance. I'm with you. Something's going down

I almost guarantee you the Voidborn laughing in Aurelion Sol's story is Cho'Gath.

All in the Void has a desire for someone, pray it's not a seeker of love and other such desires.

Lore within the last year and a half hints at either a Zaun/Piltover mega-event or A Void mega-event, one or the other. The evidence for the former:

-Jhin is scheduled to assassinate someone in Zaun

  • a rioter mentioned that an upcoming champion will be some criminal or vigilante from Zaun who'll give Caitlyn, Vi and Jhin a hard time
  • Burning Tides' finale hinted that Graves and Twisted Fate were heading over to Piltover for gun upgrades.

Even there is no Void event in progress, after this hype (which is actually at least one thread about Void Event for everyday) I'm sure they will start. xD

Void event or us rito

I hope Ionia is next after the void and I hope it's a large update. A aram Ionia map would be so cool

I can't convince myself that it was Cho'gath on the other side. The power difference between Aurelion and Cho'gath is pretty immense and I don't think Cho'gath can match Aurelion the way the being on the other side did. Then you have Kogs' father which we only really know he is really big, but Aurelion can more likely than not manipulate his size. We know at the very least he is ,much bigger than mountains, and considering the fact he deals with stars his size can grow a lot more. Whatever was on the other side was powerful, in a way Cho'gath can't comprehend.

Anyone thats been following the recent lore will know something up with the Void and its only a matter of time for a Void event to happen.

And as some above had stated, this needs to be a large event because the void itself is teased as a big deal within the Runeterran universe, even more so than any other threat yet shown in the new lore.

I think a Void event would be amazing. As a Kha'Zix main, I'd love to see some sort of interaction between him and Rengar, maybe even a Legendary skin for both of them, like Ultimate Predator Kha'Zix or something. That would be fucking awesome.Khazix Change... Is good...

Targon will not be enough. I hereby enlist the aid of my dear Helmet Brother in this conflict.

Let's just hope Chogath doesn't get a 3rd legendary skin.

I'm not certain Taliyah is a strong enough link to the void lore - all she does is confirm that, yes, Icathia exists as a neighbor to Shurima and that yes, Rek'sai and her spawn terrorize the sands. All of this information is not new, it just places Taliyah and Shurima in the world and sets them up with the daily problems that they have to deal with. Targon, on the other hand, DID establish a new aspect to the Void that had never been previously experienced, but I'm not particularly certain they intend to launch a new event soon. The champs currently in line for big relaunches are Yorick and Warwick, from the Shadow Isles and Zaun respectively. If anything, those events will come before any void event.

Yeah I think there is a good chance for a void event,or at least for a void-update(like the ones for shurima and targon) to be coming. I mean the sole fact that there is appearantly a malevolent entity in the void that creates this portals means that riots lore team had to take a look at what they want the void to be and how to handle it.

Though I think a piltover/zaun event is also likely since it was mentioned that jhin is on his way to zaun and that he'll meet vi&caitlyn there, which does sound rather specific, like they have this storyline already in the works.
