##News We have a story on Lissandra and her dream-walking, read up here! This is the russian story that was released over there months ago. I am so happy we finally get to read this piece in its canon form :D https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/story/dream-thief/ https://i.imgur.com/P9gGkTv.jpg[] ####Story Breakdown 1/2 Starting right off we find out that Lissandra visits the Watchers in order to force them into an eternal dream. She did not manage to make the dreaming permanent so every now and again she ventures to the bottom of the abyss to make sure her former masters are not waking. This tells us that she is not a fool to only rely on her warriors to visit once a year but she also does it herself. She seems to only trust herself fully.

Priest- Part Her priest is with the Winter's Claw I believe and he is there to monitor the tribe on the Frostguard behalf, so he needs to write letters back to them as a report of the current situation. Her visit surprises him, he is questioning his loyalty and is ashamed when Lissandra witnesses those thoughts. I doubt that those thoughts are any surprise to her. When she visits him she communicates to him that he needs to listen to the ice. The messaging, telepathic or through dreams rather, is off and unclear sometimes. He is unsure of how to listen to the ice.

Little Girl Reathe- Part https://i.imgur.com/oz2d8S5.jpg[] Lissandra enters the dream of a little young child. This child has heard the tales of the Ice Witch, she does not like the Ice Witch. Reathe is shocked to see Liss in her dreams but wakes up fast only for us to discover that the child is also Iceborn. Lissandra shows interest in her as she could be a great ally or enemy in the future.

Old Man- Part An older gentleman ventures into the mountains only to find himself lost, cold and dying in a cave. This part is fascinating to me. Lissandra visits him as he is dreaming, about to pass away. I am shocked here, Lissandra shows great, great humility by calming him and offering to stay in order to help him die in piece and go on to see his ancestors and those who died before him. It almost seems like she is jealous of his ability to die and see the great beyond if you will.

Avarosan- Part https://i.imgur.com/WTaoaMy.jpg[] This avarosan man has dreamt of killing the Ice Witch many times. Lissandra knows that and she protects herself this time. She entombs herself as he is about to strike her with his sword. His dream ends but we find out that Lissandra loses a fragment of her soul every time someone kills her in their dream. This is interesting!

Shaman- Part https://i.imgur.com/5ijWGsC.jpg[] Here we see a shaman, a follower of the Volibear who is about to transform from human into beast. While transforming the shamans enter a dream-like state which Lissandra can enter just like any dream. She is disgusted by this process and his transformation. She picks up a shard of True Ice and kills the shaman in his dream. He dies and she feels as tho she spared him of a life time of misery. We learn here that Liss is capable of killing people in their dream, they however can not kill her. She truly mastered dream walking.

####Story Breakdown 2/2

The Ice Witch returns to her body which she can see in her "spirit" state from the sky, her body remains on the sheet of True Ice in the Abyss. Her ability to enter dreams also allows her to see what the Watchers seem to be dreaming. But all they dream is of nothing-ness, or when induced, of Lissandra's own death which seems to satisfy them. However, Liss does know that all they want is for Runeterra to be swallowed into emptiness. With her spirit returning to her body, she dressed up again and rose back to the Frostguard. Did you notice that she did not mind the cold not even one single bit? She lied naked on True Ice for hours probably, IN THE ABYSS where water freezes in seconds and Iceborn die if they remain for too long. Lissandra truly is the spawn of winter, she is the cold.

Reathe, the girl from earlier is now in a cave, talking to Lissandra seemingly... But suddenly an older man joins her.. Now we are all thinking "What is going on? The man survived?" No... He became a frozen thrall I believe. He became Lissandra's passive...

The man’s skin is blue, and translucent. His movements are haggard and stiff, as though he’s trying to reawaken his failing joints.

Seems like Lissandra used his body somehow to guide the girl to the Frostguard because the fortress is hidden and not easy to find. Not only the girls returns tho, 5 figures return.

They seek the Ice Witch. Like so many others through the centuries, they each met Lissandra in their dreams… but now they each feel something else, deep inside.

Questions

  1. How did Lissandra descend into the abyss? Is there a hidden way or?
  2. The priest reports to the Frostguard, how do the letters get sent? I assume by utlizing messaging birds? What kind?
  3. Lissandra showed an incredible amount of humility when she helped the man pass away, was it an act to use him or was she genuine? Incredible contrast compared to the image of her as the evil ice witch!
  4. How did Lissandra reanimate the old man? Did she make a thrall of him?
  5. Did Volibear actually witness Lissandra kill his shaman? Was he unable to act?

The Ice Witch does not sleep in her citadel. She sleeps anywhere, and everywhere, and nowhere. Sometimes all at once.

So she's a cat then

Awesome piece, dreamwalking is an extremely interesting ability.

We finally know what Lissandra's up to, even if at this point I don't understand why she does refrain from taking over the Frejilord if she still has dominion as a motive.

She had literally millennia to do it.

The story also succeeds in humanizing her without having her come off as a positive character. She is manipulative, deceitful and everything she does benefits her in some way.

I also want to share my theory about the truce between the Frostguard and the Ursine, which I believe to be a non-aggression pact of some sort. We have seen how Voli's followers are vulnerable to being killed by dreamwalking during their transition. So I think Lissandra agreed not to purge every newcomer worshipper, and in return Volibear went North with his pack not to interfere with human business. She might kill this one for various, unexplained reasons.

PS: lissandra is basically ice sexy Freddy Krueger

  1. I´d guess the seals her followers check are in a different place from the larger area she was in, and that she is the only one who goes into that place.
  2. What kind of birds? Magic fantasy birds with ice resistance.
  3. Honestly this part was confusing, she shows empathy as if she knows his pain as he lies dying from the cold but then she turns him into a undead something and sends him to guide the girl,.....hard to say exactly what she felt about it´.
  4. Seems to be some kind of necromancy that keeps the spirit ....relatively intact.
  5. Voilbear probably does not care or he did not see it, he has plenty of praying followers it seems so one being assassinated should be of little concern to him.

That´s it for my answers, but there was one part that i found to be of great interest as well, the fact that she calls Avarossa and her clansmen traitors.....traitors to what exactly?

Lissandra is the one who buried the watchers with her giant magic true ice glacier and is keeping them down with her dreamwalking, so what role exactly did her sisters and their clans play in this for Lissandra to call them traitors?

Plot thickens, someone should stir it least it starts to burn at the bottom of the pot......

A good story and a nice read.

One question to mainly clear up my own lore knowledge.

The Frozen Watchers are different to The Watchers in the Void right? What I mean is according to Vel'Koz bio, The Watchers felt life and tried entering the universe and many of them 'got frozen'. Those that remained in the Void created Voidborn to infiltrate the Universe safely to study it so the Watchers could enter but the Frozen Watchers are stuck where they are. According to Vel'Koz lore "The way was shut, and dozens of the Watchers were trapped in the liminal space between two realms, frozen in the moment of transition. " So is the True Ice beneath Liss this 'realm'?

Finally story of her that I was waiting for. To this day I thought she has body mostly from ice and she has no legs T.T but thx Riot she's not "a snake" she got thet leggggs also thx for info about her daily duties. I asked ealier why she can't go down and check the barrier herself. She definitely should get new VO and "Traditional" skin like Seju or Ashe. Without helmet with Seeker's Armguard.

BTW No offence but she has just few "little" scars on her face. Shouldn't she had a half of her face "removed" XD She was blinded by Voli....a HUGE FCKING BEAR so I'm just saying. Cat could give you that scars but not a demigod.

Oh that was so good and well written! Matt Dunn might be my new favorite short story writer, and this topped the house on emberflit alley, Victors story, as my new favorite one, and putting Kha'zix story in third because as much as I love my bug son, it wasn't really HIS story was it. It was all from Rengar's POV, and Rengar's already had short stories that featured him.

Lissandra is my favorite female character in league because of how unique she is! She's older, and im so glad Matt allowed her to be older. It mentions her age lines, and her corpse pale skin. She's not an incredibly attractive titty babe like most of the other girl characters, and that just makes her more appealing to me I guess.

It's still strange how one of her main quotes is "the watchers will return" but now it seems what she want's most is to make sure they DON'T return.

TLDR: I love my tall sharp and scary ice wife very much and this story is really really good.

This story is awesome. I truly think that the Frejlord is one of the coolest (xd) regions and Lissandra is one of the best characters in the entire lore. I hope we get more Frostguard champions in the future, the only bad thing about Lissandra is she is off on an island by herself which means lore updates for her particular subregion of the Frejlord are slow.

This also gets me hyped for Volibear's rework, there are potential Lissandra tie-ins plus the demigods are cool in their own right. Hopefully we get some big juicy Frejlord stories and bio updates for old characters along with the bear himself.

Thanks for the breakdown. Usually I find them pointless when you can read it yourself, but flowery language goes over my head.

From what I understand, Lissandra has been sacrificing pieces of her soul (dream self) to keep the Watchers at bay?

Do the Watchers have a physical form? I get that they're gigantic and hate existence, but it's hard to imagine huge shadows with teeth being sealed in a sea of ice for some reason.

I'm sorry, but the phrase "the Volibear" will always sound dumb to me. Even if someone finds the name itself dumb.

I shouldn't be surprised that people can learn different types of magic, but how or where did Lissandra learn to "dream walk"? How far can she extend it? How much knowledge does she have of the world?

This tells us that she is not a fool to only rely on her warriors to visit once a year but she also does it herself. She seems to only trust herself fully.

Why would she be a fool to send minions? The watchers hate her, and keeping them contained appears to be a death by a thousand cuts.

Just one question: are you sure that the chaman is dead? I mean, there is blood but maybe this battle was just in the chaman's dream? For me, he just stopped to be transformed into a n ursine

About your 3. question: The way I understand Lissandras new character it feels like she is extremely afraid of death, her reason for helping the watchers were to get immortality and when this didn't work she sacrificed others to stop the watchers and has since then done everything to prevent the watchers from awakening.

So it kinda makes sense that she shows sympathy for those who are dying as they go through the very thing that Lissandra fears the most.

We need a dreamwalker champion now.

Heh.

Love the story! I always appreciate when Lissandra gets some attention. However, with the change of her lore, is Lissandra going to get new voiceover work? It's just that some of her in-game quotes no longer match her lore which is kind of annoying.
