Brand is from Shurima??

Is anyone going to talk about how Xerath possibly released Brand, and Nasus and Renekton used his sarcophagus to capture Xerath?

Brand is likely not from Shurima, but his imprisonment in Shurima was another part of his history. Considering that he was imprisoned in the Freljord until recently, I suppose this puts the Freljord's history with the Frozen Watchers as being synced with or slightly before Shurima's hey day. It might even be that things coincided in such a way that the newly released Brand was found by Lissandra during the War of the Three Sisters and plotted to use him to kill Avarosa.

Now I want to know if Iceborn and Ascended ever had conflicts. That sounds AWESOME.

Greyor on the Howling Abyss talks a decent amount about the heydey of the Watchers and their Iceborn empire, and makes mention of the fact that they'd conquered Valoran. Since it looks like Shurima and the Freljord are on the same continent (if "Bird and the Branch" is to be believed), it stands to reason that ancient Shurima and the Iceborn must have clashed before. There's also the fact that Lissandra apparently knows Brand, based on her unique taunt for him.

It's possible that Brand was a spirit from the north who ended up imprisoned by the Shurimans, then broke out and returned to the north - only to be caged again. Or maybe he's getting massively retconned soon and will have a different backstory. Who knows.

Not happening. Lissandra's taunt to Brand goes "You REALLY picked the wrong side". If anything, it was the other way around, with Avarosa/Serilda using him against the Frozen Watchers.
