Aurelian Sol is awesome! Except....

The ultimate is a huge letdown.

Thematically, he's amazing. The detail in the animations, skills, taunts, is just mind-blowing. I love the VO, his personality, backing animation e.t.c. However...

All of his skills are slow and deliberate. They slowly build up with an overall big impact. His personality is that of someone who loves "toying" with people, watching them "beg for mercy". That is NOT what the ultimate embodies. He controls the star using his front claws. The teaser emphasises the massive claws and their power. Aurelian Sol seems like someone who loves to talk evil. Him using a traditional dragon breath just doesn't feel right. It's like, they tried to make him still retain something dragon-like, and could think of nothing except a "dragon-breath" kinda thing. But it couldn't be prolonged or it'd be Vel'Koz over again.

It's a burst of cosmic fire which is over in an instant. Doesn't do insane damage, nor does it last long enough to even marvel the awesome effects on it. It's just so...underwhelming. At max rank the knockback is noticeable. Everything else before that is just overshadowed by the rest of his kit. It's my LEAST favourite skill by far. Heck, Q and the passive on their OWN overshadow the ultimate.

Everything else is awesome, so I'm still hyped. But damn, SUCH a big opportunity you guys missed out on. There's 0% chance of changing his ult, so I'm not even gonna bother posting the plethora of epic ideas that could have been his ultimate. Alas... [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Sometimes you gotta just have that one ability in a kit that ties it all together. Look at Jhin for example. His Passive, W, E and R all work well in tandem and feel great and interesting. The odd one out is the Q. Dancing Grenade is underwhelming but it gives Jhin a useful tool to help with waveclear and acts as an extra damage source when his Autos are down. Illaoi kinda has the same thing with her Q. Her other abilities all revolve around commanding her Tentacles or spawning more, but the Q is just there to give her something that makes it so she isn't completely dependent on her Passive. Aurelion's R is in the same boat. It's a basic damage spell to get rid of stranglers or to allow the W to clean up.

I thought his ultimate would have to do with black holes or something but then it would be a copy of Orianna's ult. They should have done something like a Super Nova, an expanding ball of damage or something.

Actually, it does do some pretty big damage. 200 base at rank 1, not counting any AP you have

I think his ultimate is pretty much the moment where Aurelion stops toying around and starts to become angry.

Also he is a dragon,he kinda had to have some sort of breath weapon.

I think the biggest thing about that is that his ult is supposed to be purely utility. Yea, they could've done something more spectacular, artsy, etc etc, but it wouldn't fit with his kit. I was watching a stream yesterday, and the streamer pointed out that Aurelian Sol is pretty useless if he there's someone who can get in his face. I don't think his ult needs to be "all that," the rest of his kit.

Actually the ultimate is quite nice, it's just that it lacks in the visual department. It's powerful, but it hardly looks the part.
