Maokai is pre-void Rek'sai? (Rek'sai is maokai from the future?)

Hi guys. I was playing a ranked match when I noticed this. Maokai Maokai and RekSai Rek'sai's splash arts have the exact same pose, and look nearly identical. This got me thinking.

According to the lore, Maokai was infused with dark magic and now has become a "vengeful force of nature". He seeks to preserve the shadow isles, which has been destroyed by sorcerers, and has cast himself into the sea and entrusted it to guide him towards "living land".

Now, Rek'sai is a creature that laid waste to the Shuriman Empire, and has a hunger that makes her devour her prey.

This might seem to have no connection, but if you read carefully, Maokai has been infused with a magic he cannot control, and has casted himself into the sea to guide him to living land. In theory, instead of finding this land, he finds Shurima along with the deserts that surrounds it (how the desert and the sea are connected I do not know). Overcome by grief and despair, and seeing something (the desert) so against his "nature", he either somehow turns into the much darker being Rek'sai, or he somehow peered into the void and was consumed by it.

  1. After the lore, lets look at his name. Maokai is surprisingly similar to Rek'sai, with both ending with "ai", and both having two syllables. His name could easily have changed.

  2. Mao'kai was once a tree spirit, and Rek'sai burrows deep under the sand and moves around in it. Rek'sai could have been still haunted by the memories that was once Maokai's, since the Mao's roots once dug into the forest ground, and Rek'sai is just desperately and unknowingly trying to do the same, but never succeeding in the dead sand .

  3. Finally, The sorcerers of the Shadow Isles destroyed his homeland, and in turn his void form seeks to destroy the homelands of others (Shuriman Empire). Basically, his personality was completely overturned.

  4. Not to mention the splash art.

Loopholes:

  1. Opposite genders: Mao could have switched genders because of his change in nature, personality, and everything; he changed from a tree spirit that guards and protects a forest to a monster that lays waste to the desert and its surroundings (simply stated, Rek is the complete opposite of mao, so the gender switch somehow makes sense).

  2. Mao was a tree. Rek is not. I have no explanation for this.

Alright, that's about it. This theory is full of loop holes that somehow someone can fill, or can just completely disprove. I don't care. Just wanted to put this out there.

Peace.

They have different gender, different origin, fighting style, resource, mentality and way of thought.

In short they are completely different things with similar pose in their splash, that's it.

No. You might as well say Nidalee is Lee Sin's future form.
