Why was shen's rework so lackluster compared to others.

Never understood what happend with the shen rework. I started playing around Asol release so i never understood what was up with shen's rework being kinda lackluster compared to the likes of WW and Galio and Urgot. Shen doesnt have a an actual recall animation or a joke animation or new VO. If someone could answer that would be great.

Shen pre-rework is better in every way than the Shen rework is now.

Even Riot stated that they missed the mark with Shen's rework on several occasions.

Art-wise, new Shen looks like a football player and walks like a doofus. That giant sword is out of place too.

Gameplay-wise, old Shen was simple, yeah but the new kit didnt really change much other than give you less options on how to play him.

Like i said before, Riot isnt happy how Shen turned out and has learned from their mistakes on it.

It is what it is, im sure Shen is on the pipeline for a legitimate VGU, just not anytime soon.

I think that shen mostly just showed old age in his kit and model. And back then Riot was just started to get their reworks up to par. So he just didnt have as much time spent on him as others did. I personally loved the rework though.

Because the team on reworks are zed mains.

It would be funny to imagine shen's rework team simply making him into zed with a shen mask on.

He was just a gameplay update not a VGU they only updated his model to fit his new abilities and art

What are you being sarcastic about? Shen got a pure GAMEPLAY update which is only meant to update a old champion by giving them new abilities and make them a better champion without updating the VISUALS of the champion with the exception of the abilities animation/particles that were new to the champion and possibly a slight visual update in terms of a model like Shen's case where he only got the updated model so his sword and looks would look good and modernized. Warwick/Galio got a VGU which stands for VISUAL GAMEPLAY UPDATE this not only updates the visuals of the champion completely (Voice, Model, Animations, Particles etc) but it also updates they're gameplay to fit the new identity created with the new visuals and lore of that character and to be a useful champion in the game a example of this is giving Warwick cc so he would gank before level 6. Think of the gameplay updates as a small fix to the champions to make them playable and more unique and VGU's as a long term fix for the character making them a good character and practical to the game
