Skarner a Shuriman Champion?

So in the Shurima update, Skarner got an update to his lore. It is displayed as follows:

Skarner, the crystalline guardian, defends the entrance to a realm deep beneath the Shuriman wastes. The few who survive trespassing his domain describe a creature of terrifying intelligence, anger, and precision. What this merciless creature protects, no one knows.

Just to make a statement, I've played Skarner a lot, and I really like him as a champion on a whole. But right now I seriously need some summoner 13. What's the deal with Skarner, whose lore used to align him with the Crystal Scar, all of a sudden being placed in Shurima? Does this make him a Shurima aligned champion, despite his champion page saying he's independent? And what realm is he defending? Maybe some sort of new content being hinted at by Riot? If anyone (I'm looking at you, Riot) has any answers for me, I'm open to whatever you have to say.

As far as i can tell, Skarner is defending the realm of lazy lore devs.

I think they technically migrated the Crystal Scar to Shurima as well.

It's a bit sad to me, since I could easily see Scarner, Taric, and the Crystal Scar being tied together to forum their own region. Add another champion or two and you're good to go!

Poor Skarner used to be the awoken member of the Brackern, enraged and risen due to the events of the crystal scar. Now, he's a shoehorned Shurima champ because "reasons". Welcome to the new lore. Compelling stories boiled to generic boring crap.

I think they merely relocate the brackern to shurima and skarner is guarding the entrance to their cave or something like that.

Yeah we are stuck with the short lore and won't know more about him until they manage to finally give us the full ones.

It is possible that Skarner is now a completely different person,it is also possible that he is just guarding the entrance to the cave of the brackern,we'll have to see.
