What if he used the world Runes to put his soul into these. It sounds logical since the whole resemblance to Morgoth exists. I think it all started with Mount Targon and having the aspects ordering Ornn to forge these runes for the first person of each race to descend from mount Targon to call them the leader of that race to show their respect. Think about it, we saw what a world rune can do based on Ryzes Flashback also it is a bit naive to think that the ruined kings magic alone caused the shadow isles to go that bad otherwise he would havee conquered all of Runeterra by himself. So what I think what happens is that the magic, the the ruined king used to kill himself and her wife, went into the world rune that was there and took everyone with him . They stated that his wife will be resurrected but not the way he think, which is the EXACT SAME phrase Ryze said in his comic to The woman who thought to to herself if that would bring back her children. Why don´t they make those runes anymore now then you might ask? Simple, its the baseline how humanity works and it was stated in the story of Runeterra that war happened for these runes, whish is the reason to why the aspect no longer reward people that now CLIMBE mount Targon with a rune but with the aspepct themself, so that this part of history will no longer repeat itself. What i think that, before mordekaiser died, that he somehow put a part of his soul into each rune, with one of them being in the shadow isles and further increasing his power which would also explain why these runes turn people evil so fast, it is cause MORDEKAISER is corrupting them to do his bidding which is why ryze put these runes into that place because no magic or physical attack can harm them and are put there to cleanse these runes so to say. Think about it. Demacia is far away from the shadow isles and is draining for people that use magic with these forests and morde is pretty much full of it. I think that the mist wouldn´t do that if it wasn´t for the rune plus mordes soul. I think this was all a huge planned backup plan on his side to return and just be a total menace for the world ... so yeah what do you guys think of it ?
