The Ultimate Truth and Godlike things in LoL
Hi! I know that right now, the Vastaya are the hot topic but i want to share some personal thoughts. This is long and is my first post in the forums so maybe i make it in a poor way and english is not my first language so there could a lot of errors...sorry for that.
Some days ago i read a thread about Illaoi and Nagakabouros. WAAARGHbobo even talks a little about Naga nature (a very abstract one) and how Illaoi's faith draws some inspiration from pantheistic religions (ex: Hinduism). He also say that comparing someone like ASol (whois godlike himself) with Naga is like comparing an ant to us humans and that in his quotes to Illaoi ("you don't understand your god"/"i have seen the main act") he is just pointing out he has a better understanding on how the world work...BUT, in Asol Q&A FauxSchizzle said that ASol have personally meet Naga before and that he sees it/she, Bard and himself as equals, he said too in another thread how gods can lie and how things that you'd think are gods could be only perceived as such (ex: ASol and Bard have been worshipped as gods before and maybe still are).
So then is Naga really an abstract construct? or maybe somewhere hidden in the universe can the real thing be encountered? (Like ASol supposedly did before). Who is lying to us? The characters, the writers...or both? Well i have a theory.
For this i have to explain some things first: Well, in some branches of hinduism, they postulate that there are different gods(devas) such as Shiva, Visnu, Agni, Indra, Brahma etc, they are divine beings, existences much higher than us, hard to comprehend, capable of incredible things, they understand the world in a much complex way, and basically make, maintain and destroy the universe as they see fit and meddle in our mortal lives as they please, but shockingly for some of us...they are NOT the ultimate "being"/"truth" and are still bound to the cycles of life, death, rebirth and suffering, just like us lesser beings, because everyone (gods included) are just an extension of that "ultimate": Brahman, the absolute existence, an impersonal and incomprehensible god, it doesn't really care about us nor the gods nor anything because we are just a part of itself, se we can't really perceive it apart for our longing to return to it some day, he is not like the God in western religions who is personal and have a perfect plan and show itself to us (his childrens) in different (albeit sometimes mysterious) ways because ultimately he cares. Brahman doesn't actively do something, he just IS, the ones offering guidance or trying to help to understand the "truth" are the devas, but they are in their own search of the truth so they too are prone to misinterpret things.
So, is there a chance that there are not one but TWO Nagakabouros?...Other interesting thing about hinduism is that some branches likes to think of their favorite god or deva as both an extension and the ultimate truth (Brahman) so, maybe something similar happens in Runeterra.
I come to think that maybe there is one Nagakabouros: a real personal thing (like a deva!) who exist in some part of the universe and is the one guiding Illaoi and sharing a portion of it's power with her, not in a evil or nefarious way, but in an act of kindness, an effort to show others the truth higher beings like itself, Bard, Asol, Kindred, etc (who can be perceived as devas too) know. That Naga is the being that ASol have met before and sees as his equal (as FauxSchizzle said), a being that maybe has a role in the universe (like Asol is creating stars, or Kindred delivering death) but still want to help us lesser beings to understand more (Asol, Bard and Kindred do and excellent work but don't really go off their way to explain much) or maybe its role is to show that truth in the first place, who knows?
Then there is a second "Nagakabouros" (i put it like that bcoz it really isn't a Nagakabouros): that is the ultimate existence or "truth" the Brahman of LoL, the origin from which those godlike beings that fulfill a role come from, the one existence that beings like Sol are aware of (like WAAARGHbobo said), maybe they don't really know everything about but still acknowledge as a real thing and an irrefutable principle (like the hinduist devas do) and maybe that's why even though Illaoi is super convinced that her god exist, she isn't so sure if what she is doing is really god's will, because the Naga that "talks" to her didn't really know either, but it still has a better understanding so is trying to help her anyway.
Maybe this Naga/LoL Brahman is known with many names or recognized as different beings across the universe in LoL, so we have that some of the people form the Serpent Islands identify that ultimate thing as Nagakabouros because that's the godlike being who they know more about and therefore their favorite but is just a pretty powerful being (like in some branches of hinduism) trying to guide them; Asol was worshipped and we know that in some way the ascended and aspects are siphoning power from his creations (maybe not exactly like Illaoi do with Naga but something along the lines) but we know he is not really a god; the people in the peaks of Ionia said that Bard "speaks of universal truth" but we know he too isn't really a god; maybe the extremely powerful thing that leads the void mentioned in Asol lore could be worshipped as this "absolute truth" by Malzahar and maybe the Great Weaver that Taliyah people worship is in fact this LoL Brahman just with another name or maybe some higher being doing the same as the not so abstract Naga that i mentioned before (trying to share truth about this LoL Brahman), and a lot more....but in the end maybe they are all just "devas", beings that come to be in that "first breath of creation" or similar events across the universe/planes/dimensions and shape this magical world we love, but that in the end, are just extensions of this LoL Brahman, this absolute truth that is in a way, unaware of all of them.
Well...what do you think? maybe i'm just thinking too much but i really like reading about mythology, theology and philosophy and love the Lore of this game so i sometimes get carried away haha, but i'd really like to know your points of views about this idea of mine and of course it would be awesome if someone from the lore team gives me a comment (Hey, i can dream too!!). Thanks for reading!! :D
