Choice of Ahri for the new statue

Just wondering, whose idea was it for Ahri to be the subject of Riot's next statue. Not that I don't like Ahri, and I do think it is a really cool statue, but this is the third mage/mid laner statue that Riot has made out of four total.

Why go with Ahri and not a marksmen, fighter, juggernaut, or anything that isn't a mage? People do play other lanes and types of champions, you know.
