Update/Change your favorite champions lore

As the title says if you could update or change your favorite champions lore what would you add?

I'll start, personally my favorite champion is the all mighty Shen. I really like Shen's lore especially this " Shen struggles to contain his anger over the murder of his father at the hands of Zed, a man he once considered his brother. " Because in my head this could go two ways

(I'm a big star wars fan) If you don't know the person in the first picture is Anakin and he lost someone dear to him and i relate that to Shen losing his father and not really allowed to express it because he's suppose to be unbiased in how he judges people but what human can function like that and not react to the bad things happening to him. One of the biggest things to take away from star wars is how fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering. I think Shen is already in the anger state so he could possibly become a character much worse than zed and truthfully just turn evil because he realizes the world ain't sh*t or he can find true balance and forgive zed before it's too late and that's what draws me to him as a character because i see the versatility.

What i'd actually update with the lore? Shen would meet zed again and see how the person he was once close to let the shadows consume him and my version of shen would hate him for it. There would be an epic fight but neither of them would die because zed would travel through shadows while shen can move throughout the ethereal planes. After the fight shen would realize that he's unable to be have god like judgement and not be bias towards what he believes is right and wrong and would take a darker path and ultimately become a bad ass like zed and have a dark side.

Can we keep Viktor's Old lore?

Fasmodey12/30/2016, 5:17:02 PM2 votes

I would make Xerath save the other 3 Ascended from a huge Void Invasion, when they surrounded them without escape.

Renekton obviously would be redeemed in this case and join his brother.

And after this, even though he is not gonna be forgiven, this act would make him less dangerous in the eyes of Ascended.

Personally, I'd take Darius and make him into more of a gladiator at a young age, proving himself in a crucible against others, maybe criminals like Draven deals with. Then have him be drafted into the army by Swain who was personally impressed by Darius 's strength and resolve. The rest can occur as it's written, but I want him to be more of a barbaric type of character than his lore lets on.

Soraka is my favorite champion... I'd change her lore to make her the banana overlord... people shall refer to her as "Her Fruitiness"

Lux I'd like for there to be a struggle with her having to play the part of a diplomatic lady of Deamcia while fighting the urge to explore the world and focus on her natural abilities. Right now she's just a talented mage, which is cool but there are plenty of talented mages in Runetera. Also her brother is Garen... so a story with those two would be awesome.

@ravore

I would think that Zed would be Anakin because he sought out more power, and shen losing his father would be like Obi-Wan losing Qui-Gon.

Eye of Twilight12/31/2016, 8:17:53 AM1 votes

I'm actually in the exact opposite boat as you, unfortunately. I believe that Shen being mad at Zed for killing their father is a betrayal to his character. Allow me to explain.

While you favor Star Wars, I myself am a Star Trek fan and have always seen Shen more in the role of Spock - a person who is not emotionless, but merely has very good control over them to the point you might think he has none. A lot of this control is managed through logic, finding a meaning for something helps abate irrational thought. As such I've always seen Shen as a very logical person and in his logic would be more confused over Kusho's death than angered. Obviously Zed had a reason for killing him, a reason that not even we know.

Perhaps Zed killed him in self defense? Or maybe it wasn't of Zed's own free will? We don't know and neither does Shen, so how could Shen be angry with him? He could be upset at the loss, of course. Kusho was the only person who could truly understand his position as Eye of Twilight after all, and he was his father and master. It would make sense for Shen to be upset about it. But to be mad at Zed for it? That makes no sense. Not unless he knew for a fact that Zed's reason for killing him was only a powerplay or something equally petty.

I became attached to Shen's lore because I enjoy the idea of emotional neutrality. Not apathy. Just emotional control. I was upset when they changed Shen's lore, when they made his anger be directed at Zed's killing of Kusho rather than at Zed's disruption of balance. I still love Shen, but if I could change it, that's the aspect I would redo.

Kindred's my favorite champ. They don't lend themselves well to stories.

...

Though I did just picture Lamb handing out "Have you seen this wolf?!" posters after getting separated and now I'm giggling like an infant.

Oooohhhhh...I would update Malphite. Malphite

When Riot updated Mt. Targon's lore, I was really hoping they would take Malphite and give him a lore update to make him part of a region he was not previously connected to, like how they made Maokai a core character of the Shadow Isles, or made Renekton and Nasus characters from Shurima instead of space. I was hoping that they would change Malphite from the "Shard of the Monolith" to the "Shard of the Mountain." He could have been a magical piece of Mt. Targon that came to life. They could have made him a character that was struggling to understand what sentience actually means when he suddenly found himself alive. Or he could have a purpose, like protecting Runeterra from the Aspects since they're busy enraging Aurelion Sol, which is tempting him to seek revenge on the world. Or Malphite getting up and coming to life could have torn a hole in the world creating a gate to the Void, and he could be struggling with guilt over that.

HE COULD BE SUCH AN EMOTIONAL ROCK!

I'd love to know more about why Jinx loves to pick on Vi so much, as well as her origins (mainly how she lost her sanity... assuming she ever had it). While its maybe not all that likely, I really want the two to be sisters.

Neamean12/30/2016, 7:05:31 AM1 votes

The Chosen One bring balance to the force and that what Anakin did. In a world where there was dozen of Jedi and only a few Sith he made them equal. Now there are two sith and two jedi.

I think that fit Shen very well he would become the villain to create balance/equality.

Easy get rid of the space empire possessing people nonsense from Pantheon Leona Diana . Instead, never outright say whether or not the deities Leona and Diana are dealing with are aliens or gods or anything.

Recast the narrative to instead being about the political turmoil and ultimately a civil war on Targon itself. The two factions are led by Leona and Diana. The deaths of the Elder's who were the political and religious elite brought about open war, as hundreds of old feuds and different city-states on the mountain range start vying for power. Leona is back to her old noble and honorable self, but now is placed in a position she is entirely unsuited for, as she has to navigate the changing political realities which tests and can even break her previously held beliefs and virtues, all while she questions whether what she is doing is what her god truly wants. On the other side, Diana is nothing but conviction, but is in many ways Leona's dark parallel. She has a vision for a Targon that steps out of the old Solari shadow and is willing to bring war and destruction to see it through, but ultimately her end goals are in many ways commendable, as we explore the inequalities that Targon allowed to happen.

Between them is Atreus (which I admit is a better name than Pantheon). A warrior and general who knew Leona as a child, but whose more violent views and earlier disagreements on how to best serve the Rakkor and Targon lead him to see merit in both sides. Through him we see how the mortals deal with these paragons of mystic deities and Rakkor's place in the old Solari order, and the potential for greater things and higher prestige under Diana's knew regime. Can the man raised from birth to be a perfect soldier learn to compromise his views? Does he, and the Rakkor at large value a potential for hegemony or their role as guardians of the mountains?

Hell, you could easily find a way to bring Taric in there as well, as an oracle with visions of a way to bring peace between the two factions.

New champions can be added to view different city-states on the Targon mountain range with their own agendas and views on how the new Targon should be shaped, through intrigue, war, and deception.

This is my jam.

I'm actually in the second draft (of three) for updating Syndra's lore/VO. The overall purpose is to integrate her character more with Ionia, give her a semblance of decent humanity, and a colored personality that will be interactive with the rest of the setting. At the moment there's too much leniency on the presumed obsession with power and the like, and not enough of the 'Ionian' Syndra would be. Much of my goals, in this respect, are driven to make Syndra 'an ordinary woman with extraordinary capability, and the personality to use it'.

Lore: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xYmAEHayUVX1-iAosJzy6GgR7vvSGpvWEmKJSMg9NqU/edit

VO: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KiI13RgUkyI8qjqzx19g6QpevBg6UBFlW0QaDab8PgI/edit

Of the two, I'm quite comfortable with the Lore being nearly completed, so it probably won't change much at all during third draft clean up.

The VO I've been stuck on the fence a while over, and I kind of need to do a large overhaul that might end up injecting several hundred more voice lines for consideration. Primary issue being one of scope, but with so much 'extra', it does allow for pick and choosing.

The Lore pitch I made for Viktor before he was reworked:

"As an orphan whose parents died from alcohol and tobacco abuse while he wasn't born yet, Viktor was always really good at making toys. One of these toys was robots. But even though Viktor was good at making robots, he wasn't great. Until One day... while Viktor was out playing in the orphanage (he wasn't allowed anywhere else), it was attacked by Blitzcrank.

"Curse you, Blitzcrank!" Viktor wailed as Blitzcrank punched all the orphans around him to death. But little did Viktor realise that Blitzcrank had flown into a range because he'd been picked on by Viktor, and was now going to kill him next.

Running for his life, Viktor came across an amazing robot with a single rune engraved upon the helmet: "Evolution!"

Touching his hand to the robot, Viktor felt the electricity inside surge through his body and also now he was the robot, so he turned around and killed Blitzcrank. With his last breath, Blitzcrank confessed that he was actually a toy Viktor had made that had grown sentient (Viktor had the power inside him all along!), then Viktor picked one augment and couldn't change it he accidentally picked the blue one it was a nightmare."

I think this could still apply if they just tweaked his augments to be really awful again (sometimes you have to spend augments to make augments!)
