Victorious Aatrox: Victory vs Royalty in the concept
Hello,
I have a bit of an issue when it comes to Aatrox's 'Victorious' skin.
Personally I see it as showing 'Royalty' than it does 'Victory'.
I'll explain further. His outfit looks less of 'Victory' and more of 'Royalty'. Reinforced by the cloth texture of the skin, which I imagine would tear instantly the second he moved as it's so tight, it makes me feel like it's less of hard earned effort that got him victory.... There is what I imagine to be, some regalia (The three button(?) crossover, you can't actually tell what it is, and that bothers me in the design), but...does that show 'Victory'? The crown is something, but a crown is for royalty. A medal is for honor. The way the shirt cuts off is also very....posh? Would a seasoned fighter feel comfortable wearing something that makes him look like he's 'dressed to impress'? I don't think so. Victory for a character like Aatrox would mean 'power'. This would work for some of the debonair champions, but...it just doesn't 'suit' what I think it was meant to go for. Aatrox as a character feels heavy. This outfit doesn't show that...weight? It's just so light and royal, and it does being royal so well, it really doesn't show that he's won any victory, but a title.
Those are my comprehensive thoughts. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk :)
