Shaco: The Loves of Lady Purple
So I just read a short story, and the only thing I could think about the whole time was how much it made me think of Shaco.
This story, The Loves of Lady Purple, is all about this doll that comes to life... the exact kind of thing that Shaco is supposed to be in his new lore. I'd love to see something like this become Shaco's lore when he gets reworked. Like maybe he had a mage puppetmaster who used magic to make him move, and over time he became embued with the mage's powers and took on a life of his own. Or maybe it wasn't even a mage and he just gained life of his own volition, taking power from the puppeteer's love.
Either way, he then turned on his master... and subsequently burned down the theatre after sucking the life out of him.
I think it would be a really cool character conflict for him, what she feels on the last page:
"... had the marionette all the time parodied the living or was she, now living, to parody her own performance as a marionette? Although she was now manifestly a woman, young and extravegently beautiful, the leprous whiteness of her face gave her the appeaance of a corpse animated solely by demonic will."
Then his visual design could change and make him look more akin to Lady Purple, or at least more like a creepy puppet than the current clownish look. Long limbs and skeletal fingers, and a more human face, but uncanny valley level of human. And I'd love for there to be evidence left behind of his strings, like maybe just the little bits sticking out of his arms and head, so he could be the puppet with his strings cut.
Y'know... "I've got no strings to hold me down!" ... ... ... ... ...ps, I low-key wanna be the new Malicious here on the boards, but for Shaco... since Malicious probably won't get to post anymore pretty soon.
