Riot approach to Lore transition

Some feedback about how the Lore management is seen from the playebase and a small suggestion.

Riot, is really annoying to see the Lore of champions being shortened up without any notice in advance, it happened with Shurima champions before and now with the Shadow Islands ones. Add to this that it has been a long while without any update on said stories.

Now, this is understandable when we are talking about incoming/new characters, because we don't know much about them since the begin and any new bit of information is exciting and theorycraft-worthy.

But when it's about characters that we have been playing for months or even years it's a different story! It looks to us that you are telling us: "Screw your view on X champ or what you loved about him. We are leaving them in an oblivion of might happen unless we feel like making something that isn't assured to keep the feeling of the original champion".

What would be a good and... democratic (?) way to undergo these changes is to either:

  • Give a sneak in advanace on which champions are going to be affected by the next Lore change so that it doesn't come out of the blue and you may collect feedback on what the community is expecting from X champion and which are the main themes that must be preserved (as you did with Xerath after the ragefalls).
  • Do not change the actual Lore of them in the short 3 lines before you have ready the longer ones so that we can expect a full story to be released a week later.

Immersion (at least for me and other Lore-fans) plays a big role into which champion we are playing, and having it be removed totally by this 3-lines sneaks feels like we are playing with an amorph plasticine.

Sadly even though Morello said he would have a talk with the narrative department about connecting with us and getting feedback...

It seems they have ignored what ever he said, or he didn't talk to them in the first place.

I can find one red post from a week ago at the most recent... and a couple more several days before that.

I suppose it is a good thing I never actually expected them to follow through on this "more communication" thing. That way, this comes as expected, rather than a disappointment.

Indeed some improvements have happened. I'm writing this post after waiting for the SI content to be updated after the Harrowing and the Black Mist thing, something that didn't happen so now we are again faced with thi mud-like lore status of champions that have already settled into LoL.
