Shacos new lore is generic and boring!

I understand that rewriting the lore to some champions is sometimes needed.

Especially when you have to recreate a fitting universe for all the colorful champions on Runterra. Having context for the existence of those champions is important. Making a good IP can generate films and books, i understand why a company wants to make a good lore. And some early lore was really lacking in depth and emotions.

For example, I didn't thought the Varus lore change was bad at all. It gave context to Ionian history and story and also fleshed out the Darkin more. Thats really nice. It also had a lot more depth and emotions. Also the lore changes to Poppy or Sion and Taric were needed. The lore before was really generic and bland, it also never served a deeper world development. Thats now not the case anymore. Sion fleshed out Noxus. Taric fleshed out the aspects. Poppy is now a loveable, goofy character, with a worthwhile own character arc.

I'am not hating on the old lore, i bet for the budget and time you guys had it was okay. Nothing to special or fancy, but not exactly "Game of Thrones" material either.

But now to the problem lore at hand, the Shaco lore change.

Before he was a "person" from some other place/world, really vague and he had the psychopathic killer vipe, mixed with some obvious joker references in his quotes. Lorewise it was nothing too special, i didn't served a deeper worldbuilding. There where a hint to some other world, but the lore never got specific, which i thought was its strong point. Not beeing to specific about Shaco. It gave him mystery, without really breaking with the inner working of the world. It was only rumours, nothing specific. It was a vague Joker reference without outright admiting that it could be him. it also could be some other Joker like person. His kit resolves around trick boxes and knives, very Joker like. He is also a very mind games playing champ, just like the Joker. i liked that a lot. But he was also designed different enough to not get some copyright lawyers to knock on your doors. perfectly done.

So you guys obviously decided that you don't want this, this not self created character, in the LoL-verse. I maybe can understand it from a creator point of view, cause "the Joker" was not created by you guys, instead he was created by comic authors (many different). On the other hand he was vague enough to not be the Joker. There was never the danger of anyone suing you. Also you guys don't need to reinvent the wheel. Having a Joker like character in the game wasn't imersion breaking, he fitted in.

BUT!

What i really can't understand is why you change the lore into something so bland and generic. He now not fits his kit and quotes. The new lore is more concrete and way more boring. Why? I mean what was wrong with the old one?

Kid has evil magical puppet that goes on killing spree. The End. No emotions, no depper meaning, no fluff.

How is that an improvement from before? how is that more worldbuilding? How does this fit the character we have atm? Why change the lore when you can't replace it with something decent?

Sorry but this new Shaco lore is just..... booooooorrrrriiiinnnngg- I can't understand any reason for this change.

You are assuming things... In the old lore Shaco was a mistery, we didnt knew anything about him aside from the fact that he kills people for fun. And that is all.

His lore was literally NOT HAVING AN ACTUAL LORE.

That is boring.

His new lore at least explain how he was created and why he uses toy boxes as weapon... It doesnt even contradict the old lore as far as i know since we knew nothing about Shaco in first place.

I'll play Uncle Rito for a moment (just for the lulz, I assure you.)

What was it about Old Shaco that resonated with you, but not this story?

I'm usually for characters remaining mysterious rather than have all of them dissected and understood, but not in this case. Compare Shaco to Fiddlesticks. Each from a basic horror trope, killer clown and living evil scarecrow. However,

Fiddlesticks did have a story that shed a little light on him, but the terrifying aspect was he was from an alien, unknown place and would do nothing but attempt to murder any who entered the room he was summoned into. By contrast as others have said, there was legitimately nothing said about Shaco but that nobody knew anything about him.

Fiddlesticks lore had to change as the Institute and the basis of his original lore is gone. Sadly rather than let him keep some mystique he has been reduced to the be vengeful specter of a victim farmer. Yawn. Shaco needed SOMETHING, and we have a creepy origin for him. Maybe you don't like it, but I find it better than an obviously Joker inspired clown. The only aspect of Shaco original lore is the hint he was a killer for hire, while now he seems fully self motivated.
