Just a thought; summoners technically don't exist anymore; continuing to call it that wouldn't make much sense. Also, "Auxiliary Spells" sounds natural to say, it rolls off the tongue, don't you think?

I always thought the summoners created avatars of the characters in Valoran to play with in their Fields of Justice instead of the real characters wasting their time with these mindless battles. I guess this isn't official but I just think it would make a lot of sense.
As for your idea, I think 'summoner spells' sound more familiar (for obvious reasons). 'Auxiliary spells' could work as an alternative name but it's a word that is not very common at least for non-native english speakers. For example I have never heard that word before and it sounds kinda weird and fancy. So basically it fills all the requirements for being used in a video game.

Summoners don't exist, but rito has confirmed that players are still called "summoners" -- presumably because they had no idea what the fuck they were doing with the retcon.
"Auxiliary" fits perfectly, though. Yeah, it's a relatively uncommon word, but at least rito would be expanding players' vocabulary rather than flopping around trying to decide how to deal with the lore retcon a full year after the fact.
Auxiliary spells doesnt sount right and is hard to pronounce and the definition is not that known to foreigners, so no. Why cant we just call them spells, and summoner icons just profile icons, we already do it most of the time, like with saying runes and masteries.

Actually, now that I think of it, let's do it.
They should keep the name summoner spells. Even though the league isnt canon anymore Riot should atleast keep the remnants of the old lore out of respect to this universe they created and then discarded. Kind of as an easter egg. If gameplay isn't canon anymore then it wouldnt cause any harm.
Imagine 5 years from now. A player who never knew about the institute of war would ask. Why are they called summoner spells? And we veterans would tell him with a tear rolling down our cheek.

Well, I would prefer they be called Summoner spells, but since there's no Summoners they might as well be called something different.
What about summoner's cup?

I'll go way out of the box here, if summoner spells are no longer reffered as such, then what about the rift? Should that be renamed to Auxiliary Rift or Auxiliar Rift? Summoner is a pretty broad term in it's definition... because to have a summon, you need a summoner to cast the spell for such action. Also, summoning someone doesn't require any chanting, just the memo(or depending on who you are, the pink slip).
Summoner and it's derivatives are pretty handy I find to name some things or others.
