After seeing the new splash arts I noticed that Warwick looks very different, most notably his head is no longer oddly shaped. Is this a hint that a visual update is on the way? If so I'd be extremely happy, I don't need a kit rework right now, I've been winning with him a lot lately, it would still be welcome but all I want is a visual update. I've been waiting a while for one.

It's just the splash art. If he was getting a VU soon,then they wouldn't have released the splash art without the VU;).
Though riot said that there'll be likely another VU this year after

,so it is possible for Warwick to get the VU
Modern splashes for old champions with old models/designs are made to look like how Riot would have re-imagined them nowdays, while staying true to the old design (After all, it does need to represent the in game look to a degree).
If you look at recent splash updates, many old champs have slight differences in their splashes from their in game models- Urgot has more pipes, slightly different mask and armor in the splash, Caitlyn's hat and gun design are different in the splash, etc.
