@Reav3, do you consider Swain's rework a success?

Was it worth it? Because judging by the statistics, Swain is played by fewer people than before (top and bot lanes). And by me, the way you treated the old fan base... That was a freaking misery. It IS a misery.

I think he's a huge success. He has a more solid kit, it's fun to play, and they managed to effortlessly make him the vicious tactician and fearsome warlock merged together. His fantasy is perfectly designed and he achieves his goal of being the iron-willed leader of Noxus.

Maybe, but I prefer his previous state, I miss old Swag too much. [zombie-nunu-tears]

It's sure a success , but he got nerfed because of pro play

The only issues I have is:

  1. Swain’s new splashart, doesn’t look menacing enough and has weird eyes. I wish he looked more akin to the Ezreal and Lux animation with the bigger eye, darker hair, and more expressive face.

  2. Lore-wise I wish his relationship with Du Couteau was explored more. It makes me wonder how his lore would have went if Irelia wasn’t right after him for a VGU. Would have Riot added that rivalry? Sorry but Irelia vs Swain is not very interesting to me. If they didn’t want to go back to the Demacia rivalry then I wish more of a Swain vs Darkwill or Swain vs. Du Couteau would have been explored. Also where is Talon lore update? Riot please. The demon arm is nice and cool but I hoped Riot wouldn’t have seen that as a replacement for continuing the crippled characteristic of Swain. Imagine if a character loses their eye and gets a bionic eye as a replacement which is actually ten times better than a regular human eye... It’s not really crippled.

Destroy then Improve Viktor

Sorry I had to put that in there, it reminded me so much of Viktor.

Continuing on, one clever way I’ve seen the writers circumvent this problem is to add an emotional trauma attached to losing their biological features. So then the focus would be more on the psychology than the physical But Swain doesn’t have that problem, in fact he thanks Irelia for cutting off his arm. The concept of the demon arm was cool but the execution behind it wasn’t.

3 Gameplay Swain used to be a lane poke champion where he peaked in mid game and fell off hard late. The power spike seems to have changed and new Swain sucks now in lane and is a scaling carry. It just feels weird to change the identity of a champion this much. It’s like making reworked Draven awful in lane but amazing late. I would be very surprised. I don’t know how they could have fixed this though. I only have a m5 with Swain so I am not a huge expert on this.

i play swain. and i want to bring him 7. i like him and imo he is one of the best reworks by far

Swain is WAY more fun than he used to be. I'm M7 Swain now when on the old Swain I had like 5 games on him maybe. Probably the best VGU from a fun standpoint besides Akali

I do like how they made his playstyle a bit more consistent, old Swain was a bit of a contradiction in that he was a DOT dealer but wanted to get up close and personal. Giving him big hits up close makes more sense.

Swain has been wrecked by this rework imo. Granted maybe I am just salty because he is so completely entirely different to play, but his old kit seemed just way way better than his new one in terms of moment to moment usefullness. His AoE 25% slow is a joke compared to his old AoE snare, it just feels weak and pointless to use most of the times where an old Nevermove would have saved me/made a play. His Q just seems poorly designed in how it works compared to the champions you are likely to be facing, almost every other mid can out exchange you if you engage since this is your ONLY damaging attack and requires you to be right up in their face to actually get decent damage out of it and plenty of other characters have simple autocast abilities that damage+stun or slow or snare at longer range than you can consistently damage them back. Losing the DoT was a HUGE mistake IMO since that was his primary way of setting up fights and exchanging long range blows during laning, tide into his lore as a tactician who sets up his fights, and gave him something unique that made him FEEL different from any other champion.

Now he just feels like a generic Swain-Lite.
