Riot should Create a Witch

I feel like its about that time to have a Witch in the game for the upcoming October. A green female Witch, who is obviously a caster and uses the dark magics that would use like, plagues, diseases, dark bolts of magic, damage over time effects to throw into the mix (Would probably be the Plague/Diseases). Would be a good enemy for Vayne since Vayne is all about hunting down Witches and stuff for lore. I feel like this would be a complete mage type champion for the rest of the mages, Like Xerath, Syndra, Lux, Malzahar, Cassiopea, etc.

You don't understand the amount of work that goes into champion creation, do you? It takes up to a year to develop them. They're not going to shit out a stereotypical witch champion in 5 minutes just for October.

I think morgana already fills the witch archetype. and I dont think Riot would fo such a straightforward take on a witch, lately they do archetypes with a twist nowadays

I'm gonna agree with a comment below and say that this is what Morgana should be.

She used to be that, a powerful Mistress of the Dark Arts. Now it's left a bit vague, I'll grant it to you, but I believe it's still doable. She's seen as some sort of witch in the woods after all. Curses and hexes, potions, should definitely be a part of her (her color story does mention that, although it's a tale). I don't know what Riot has in store for her, and I fear that being a witch isn't one of their plans, but I believe she can and SHOULD be that. A powerful witch who was born with Celestial powers and learnt how to harness the Elemental and Spiritual powers of this world to cast her curses and spells.

Riot has actually thought about making a stereotypical witch before. We the community also want it (some do not but most of us do). There have always been ideas about what kind of stereotypical witch there could be and of course for runeterra everything would have to be changed and adjusted to the fantasy world. I do not agree that Morgana necessarily fits that role. She more so fits a role of a generic datk mage than something that could be considered a witch. Lissandra does fit the role of a witch, she is called a witch after all but not even she has the abilities or the looks that we would associate with an old grey haired witch. There has been one character in Garens story and it seems to be a witch that eats memories so to speak. So autimatically we have one candidate (tho she has been slain, plot twist she is alive?). Champions need about a year in production so next year halloween may work depending on if they prioritize other things. You made this thread and the replied made it look like we do not want such a champion but we do, so do not get swayed.

Lissandra is basically the evil witch queen archetype.
Annie little witch and the toy she uses to murder people. Syndra seems about right Morgana does the dark magic thing Lulu transforms people and has the hat

Vayne's main enemy is Evelynn.

And it takes a long time to make a champion, they wouldn't be making it for this October, it can take the upwards of like 5-6 years in Sol's case.

Do people honestly not know that tons of champions are based off classic fantasy archetypes? More than half the roster is just directly 'borrowed' ideas so it's hilarious to see people have such a knee jerk reaction to a more direct association of what people think of when they think "Witch."

Try to tell me Ahri is not just a Kitsune and you'll fail.
Phoenix rebirth? Yeah got it covered except Anivia does it with a frozen ice egg to seem cool and unique compared to every other phoenix that does it with fire. Cassiopeia Medusa Azir Egyptian stargate and Horus Akali A classical ninja Nasus Anubis Zilean Father Time Veigar A Black Mage Fiddlesticks Any scarecrow Karthus any lich Nidalee tarzan esc jungle girl Yuumi magical familiars Evelynn succubus Heimerdinger quirky mad scientist Sivir amazonian warrior Warwick werewolves Shaco evil jester Pantheon Spartans Amumu a mummy Fiora fencers Elise Jorogumo Jinx punk outlaw Kayle righteous furies

Think you get the point. There's plenty of ground to be covered for new ideas. But if you want to play what might seem 'witch like' for gameplay on what LoL already has then Fiddlesticks fits the bill. Crows that curse you, life draining dark magic, ect. Too bad he's going to be reworked and his old kit scrapped like what they did to pizza feet.

What you're describing is more a Halloween skin than anything. I love fun skins, like Count Kledula, but I don't think the stereotypical idea of a witch would work for just a Champion.

An older lady Champ is welcome, maybe someone that uses potions in their abilities. But it would definitely need a spin to make it fit the world better.

I think what the OP wants is already in the game in some avenues. Morgana is the dark mage, who shoots bolts of dark magic etc. Twitch and Cassiopeia are the two who operate on poisons and diseases.

But these are really what makes the iconic "witch." Hell, not even the green skin that the OP mentions is iconic witch. That's strictly based on the Wizard of Oz.

The witch we ACTUALLY need is a much different character altogether, someone who hasn't been done before in the game. First of all, we don't really have an old woman in the game, at all. There are technicalities, but Riot has always magicked away their age to make them young and beautiful despite their supposed old age. We need a hag. A crooked, withered old woman with gray hair, a slightly harsh, raspy voice, wrinkles, with gnarled knuckles. She could use a cane or a walking staff, but overall, we just need an elderly woman in this game. It's been 10 years. I find it wild that Riot has not made ANY character like this yet, especially since fantasy settings are the perfect place for those characters. If the Netflix Dark Crystal show can make Aughra a fucking badass old hag working to undermine the Skeksis, Riot can make their own badass old hag. Secondly, traditional witchcraft is generally based around familiars, invocations, incantations, and sacrifice. Fairy tale witches operate on a different set of directives, often using trickery, transmutation, and potions to work their magics. We would do well with a traditional witch, who would have some way of either sacrificing her own HP to make crazy shit happen, or channeling spells and effects through some sort of familiar, akin to Lulu or Orianna, or creating circles of magic/protection that allow them to save allies from harm or cast their own magic more effectively. Circles of magic/protection would honestly be the best route, as I don't think any champion in the game really operates like that. The closest we have is Taliyah, who's inhibited when standing in the zones she creates. The witch could use HP sacrifice as part of her spellcasting as well, to really seal the deal. Overall though, we need a real sort of witch hag, not a storybook/pop media version.

Your idea of a witch champion will not work until Riot tones down the damage creep in the game. I too am very interested in a traditional hag champion that debuffs, poisons, and hexes enemies (at a cost, possible a inhumane transformation like Gnar).

Just realized that this is a toxic community and when someone or i bring in an idea, it gets shot down by tons of negativity, not to mention people don't even read what i had typed out and only read the title and decided to comment on it with knowledge everyone already knows. Later, i'm done here.

Ebonmaw Dragon10/1/2019, 3:22:19 AM1 votes

We need the famous Sand Witch that Lyte mentions in game.
