What do the Summoners do in the League of Legends (in the lore)

So what does a Summoner do in the League does he only summon the Champion and keep him in the field, and the Champion does all the fighting and buying alone or does the Summoner have full control over the Champion?

Summoners have a very different part in the new lore. They are no longer a part of the now retconed group knows as The Institute of War (aka, the League of Legends). Yes, Riot retconed their own game within the lore of their own game. Dont ask, us lore followers are still trying to connect all the pieces after this rather unprepared shit-storm.

I don't know why they rectonned the lore they could have tweaked it to make it better. They did it without having the new lore up and running.

They got rid of a lore based on the name of the game. League of Legends cannot be called League of Legends anymore LOL.

The old lore was pretty original and i enjoyed it so much.

I doubt we will ever get it back. Once Riot does something they rarely change it back to its original way.

My current suggestion is to only look at the lore of champions that were made after Varus, and to look only into the lore of Nations/factions from the wiki pages.

Everthing before Darius is subject to change! Keep that in mind in the future when an old champion gets lore reworks.

There are no Summoners. They were retconned out because Riot's lore team is utterly incompetent.
