It feels like the stakes are high and Shurima is on the brink of a very scary and dangerous time. This is certainly something we'd like to explore further because Shurima is so rich and full of possibility -- I can't help but imagine all the different outcomes and what it means for these characters and the other parts of this world should Azir or Xerath manage to succeed. +1 to your Azir/Xerath movie! I'd go see that in a heartbeat!

- Why did you make this now and not when all the lores were released to the Shurima story page? Also WHY DIDN'T YOU WARN US I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS.
- One big question I've had about the Ascended in particular is how many have there been; Nasus and Renekton couldn't have been the only ancient Ascended to exist after all, so the main questions here are how many people actually became Ascended and are any of them beyond our the two brothers we have still alive?
- Given how the Brackern have shifted to Shurima I'll take it that it was Shurima that was responsible for them burying themselves underground. My question here is more expanding off of that; in the old lore the Brackern were born and ruined by two different Rune Wars, so did Shurima get involved in Rune Wars, or was the stuff that birthed the Brackern and then sent them below the sands a different event entirely?
- So Ascension transforms you in to something very distinct and everyone has their own forms, so is there some kind of correlation between who the person was as a mortal and what their Ascended form would end up being like?
- Nasus has the form of a jackal and was always touted as a guy who understood the cycle of life and death. I know it was probably more coincidental but I can't help but wonder; does Nasus's form and his deathly powers have some kind of connection to Kindred, particularly Wolf, in any way, be it major or even in universe coincidental?

Great questions there, and I'll dive in now.
1 - Well, doing this when ALL THE BIOS were released might be a bit overwhelming for everyone. Doing it this way means we can address folks questions in manageable chunks without everyone's heads exploding. And we like to surprise even you now and again :-)
2 - Ascended beings were once, if not common, then at least much more prevalent in Ancient times. Over time the ritual has become less successful and more and more folk being offered it weren't surviving. After Azir's betrayal and the fall of Shurima, most of the knowledge of how to do the ritual properly has been lost or forgotten. There was once many warriors of the Ascended Host, but even they are not immortal and can be killed with the right weapon and enough bodies to throw at them.
3 - Expect to know more when Skarner's bio hits in the next couple of weeks.
4 - I think it's a mixture of who you are and how the ritual is prepared that informs what you become. The ritual channels and hones the magic to make you into the being you need to be.
5 - I don't think there's any direct connection, but Nasus is certainly a being of great and deep wisdom, so he certainly understands that cycle, yeah. And an entity like Kindred would certainly be interested in those who have lived long past their day to die.

As a side note, we've now gotten a mini-site for Bilgewater, the Shadow Isles, Targon, and now Shurima. My question is this: will these sites be the norm for lore updates, and will they ever be compiled somewhere so we can access them quickly?

His intentions were usually in the right place, but he certainly allowed his ego and position of power to cloud his leadership, ultimately leading to his betrayal. Hopefully, he's learned from that and is ready to be the type of emperor he always had the potential to be. Only time will tell...

kinda like how you would tell your kids to eat their greens even if they hate the idea.
He isn't nicey nice and pats kids on the head, he is more Regal and powerful (as he was raised that way like the pharaohs of old where raised to think they where the next things to gods)
He may be Arrogant but that's who he is and how he was raised.
However when the chips are down and the fate of the world is on the line, Shurima's Safety ALWAYS comes first to him before the rest of the world.

I think as Xerath's power grows he'd be able to master most types of magic, but that they'd have a different effect from other users of the same magic when filtered through his body (which I think of a being like a magical nuclear reactor, always on the verge of reaching critical mass) and coming out the other side...

Okay, got it, Xerath is super strong, even his limited from is able to fight with 2 ancient ascedants. But how strong is he in his unlimited form? What would you give to him in a out of 10 scale?

Spot on... Xerath's literal chains when he was a slave are very much part of who he is in his mind - even if he tries not to acknowledge that. My take is that when Azir freed him and slaves (not that anyone but Xerath heard that...) he would have backed off if he could, but it was already too late. Too many moving parts were already in motion, and he knew that if he backed off, then as soon as Nasus and Renekton returned he'd be screwed...

In the introduction on Shurima's lore page, we are told Shurima is trading with lands across the seas, and it is part of the "southern continent." Does that mean that, so far, we can confirm that there are at least 3 continents on Runeterra, those being Valoran, Ionia, and the "one that contains Shurima"?

Ascended Beings are not immortal. They can bleed, be hurt and die in battle or other ways. Think of them as exceptionally long lived, but not immortal. There have definitely been others and perhaps not all of those raised up are dead. Perhaps that is not dead which can eternal lie... :-)

RiotRiotJaredan13 votesAzir's return is still pretty fresh for the people of Shurima. The city of Shurima rose around a year before the events of The Bird and the Branch. For a nomadic, mercantile family like Taliyah's, the possibility of the return of an empire could have widespread ramifications for the basic elements of their way of life. But that can be said about most Shurimans.
I don't want to get into details for reasons that will become apparent.
