I love Jhin's story but...

Did he get maimed? No. And, through context, we can assume he wasn't tortured.

The bad guys turned Jhin into a weapon, so he willingly went with the modifications. He didn't get the prosthetics because of any accident or due necessity for pure survival. He did it because he was given equipment and enhanced for the job. Ifanything, he sees it as just a new brush to paint with.

We might need to wait for the short story.

Let's be honest,it left a lot about Jhin unexplained.I guess they still wanted to leave Jhin Shrouded in mystery.
