DISCLAIMER: forgive me if any of this is a discussion somewhere, I am new to discussion boards. Please lead me in the right direction if I can contribute in another way.

CONTEXT -- Lately, I have been trying to think of ways I can impact the League community and collaborate with the rest of you lovely people. As someone in the design and development field, I feel as though I have maybe a different perspective than some. Or, alternatively, I could find others with my same perspective to nerd out with, seeing as my work friends are not too interested in league and my league friends are not too interested in design.

Anyways, my most recent thought (literally 30 mins ago while reading through the new lore for the Mt. Targon and Aurelion Sol event):

MY DILEMMA -- I quite honestly read very little of the character lore. I have only been playing league for a few years, so by the time I joined and even got really into the community, there were 100+ champions with their own stories. Not to mention the relations between those stories and the many origins and locations to read about. It all seems very daunting...and I'm not much of a reader to begin with. I am very interested in delving into those parts though, and every time there is an event release that is text with graphics and ties between several champions or origins, I definitely read up and admire what Riot builds for those events. It's just when it is not displayed in that event, I feel like it will be quite the challenge to go read all the lore and then be able to remember and tie it all together. I feel like I sound really lazy and whiney at this point, like "Rito why you make all this content I don't want to read?" Not the case. I'm just saying, I am interested in learning more and reading more, and I think It would be cool to have it presented in a different way.

From what I can see, Riot makes these really cool events for lore and skins, and then they just kinda disappear forever, which makes me sad. I still remember at the beginning of my career I was looking at the newest Harrowing landing page, and I would open up dev tools and just admire the graphics and story-telling they did, and admire how they put it all together in the code.

On a side note: If I get sad seeing these beautiful stories, designs, and landing pages go away, I wonder how the people who create them feel. I think I would just die to put so much work into something and it not be archived. Yes, I know you can't just store every landing page ever and have it on the site, but damn, that hurts my soul a little.

MY IDEA TOWARDS A SOLUTION -- This part will be kinda a tangent of random thoughts, haha, so bear with me Volibear (I've always wanted to use of these)

I'm going to start with the TL,DR: I feel as though these events, and the writing and graphics that go with them, should be archived. Originally, my brain was like "YASSS A BOOK," and then I remember that these events come out every few months. I would actually be ecstatic to buy a book with all the info in it, and then each year a new volume comes out with that year's content, but I could definitely see me being in the minority. Plus, that would be a lot of work for potentially little profit. So, the next thing I think of is a digital solution. Wonder if you could flip through a beautiful encyclopedia of sorts on the League of Legends website? This could include champions, relations between champions, origins, locations, and I almost think you could also incorporate these events that have been coming out a lot lately that bundle new skins together.

Diving further: So the book idea kinda came from me wanting to also learn more about the comic book world. I was not exposed to fun nerdy things as a child, so as an adult I feel a little gypped haha. NOW, I'm realized that comics are righteous, but once again I feel overwhelmed because I haven't been reading for years and I don't even know where to start. My lovely boo though, has been introducing me to characters and the different story lines that their comics take them in, and how different artists take liberties and make their own renditions of the stories. Then, I remembered last year stumbling upon the Marvel Universe Encyclopedia. I had bought it for my neighbor as a gift, and then when I was hanging out at his house I would sit down and flip through with him and he would tell me all about his favorite childhood heroes.

I want that for League of Legends. I want a beautiful guide into the world, and I want to be able to share this with my fellow Leaguers, and really anyone else I can get to listen to me ramble about my favorite nerdy things.

Like I said in the TL,DR though, I can totally see how the idea of a yearly installment of a Leaguepedia book series would be an impractical idea. Hell, a similar web version may also be impractical, but I feel like there is SOME way to make this. If you think about it though, a web version of this is so exciting. You could implement so many things to tell the story that you couldn't dream of in print media. It doesn't have to be crazy, but graphics that captures the style of each event, maybe some SVG animations, and just some beautiful but simple styling.

My brain is mush by now, and I have another discussion to start on another topic! Thank you all who read, and I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and ideas. And like I said above, if this is already an idea being supported, please link me so I can join the discussion!
