What about Irelia (-players)?*
So Irelia isnt a champion whos been forgotten, but a champion whos been ignored for a long time now. Of course, there were some changes to some of (her) items, but i dont really think that Riot really thought about the pros and cons for especially this champ. Why should they ? there are champions so much more trending and popular than irelia now and thats ok, if a champ has a 40% pick/ban rate, why dont make a skin for this champ? pretty logic and normal. But why dont try to make a champ popular by playing a bit with the champs scalings or items. These could break the structure and make that specific champ OP or very weak, it also could cause other champs to be op and have a much higher pick/ban rate too when a specific item gets buffed. And we the community and Riot dont want such a breakdown, thats why Riot is always going on slow and easy with big changes and thats how it should be. So what could be changed on a champ without breaking the champ itself? How about a new skin? (The following is all about examples and could be replaced with any other champ etc.) Lets say Riot would bring out Arcade Irelia, so they put in time, effort and money now. They gave us something, what do they get back?
- Happy (Champ- X) community, why ?
Because they have a new way to represent themselfs now, represent their main champs or just their new badass looking skin on a champ they maybe dont play that much.
2.Money, as long as its a pretty cool and nice looking skin, not only mains would buy,for example Arcade Riven, Cosmic Reaver Kassadin, Project YI and elementalist lux etc. the earnings on this skin would be still pretty high.
It doesnt have to be a complete new theme, it just could be a skin from a succesful, already existing one. ( Arcade, Project, Poolparty, Darkstar)
3.(closing champ-x for now) some (forgotten champs) -mains already know how it is waiting very long for a skin, so what a new skin could do is,
that itll last at least 2-3 years ( unless its garbage), example: poolparty fiora, pretty badass skin, do i want another one?
not really im fine, STILL and will be much longer.
So those players wouldnt come and cry for a new skin again for a very long time, so the champ-x can be (forgotten) for quite a bit again.
Wouldnt Riot get back more earnings when they (update) a champ whos more popular right now, like you mentioned before?
YES! they would.
But what i wanted to achieve with this is, that champ-x mains as a part of the community dont get forgotten themselfs and get forced to try out not just new things, which is great btw, but trying out the popular things right now, to not get bored too much which isnt that great at all.
I dont want to speak to Riot personally with this and i dont want to be this to be a really huge discussion between group A and B* either.
I just wanted to leave my thoughts here and want to hear yours aswell.
