So with Taric's rework coming up I have to ask. Will he be gatting a traditional skin?

I'm just curious because Taric is going through what is essentially a full re-launch, and is being changed almost completely style wise.

Now I know Riot has changed the way they do reworks in the past couple of years, but Taric has always been known as the hammer and shield wielding, gem shattering, outrageous character we all know and love. And I can accept that he's going to be changed, I'm looking forward to it in fact.

But I'm still curious, after all Sion didn't get a traditional skin and IronStylus did say he was getting a Sion level rework so I don't know. But I do remember couple of Rioters commenting over the past two years saying that Taric would most likely be getting a new skin(s) to go along with his rework.

What ever Riot decides to do with him I'll know I'll still play Taric regardless.

Perhaps something similar to Gangplank's once-Classic skin that is now called Captain Gangplank. A skin that is closely tied to his lore, but changed due to certain events. In Taric's comic, he sheds most of his knightly armor during the climb, perhaps to leave behind an old life, or merely to drop excess weight for the ascent. Whatever the case, he's not being ret-conned so hard that he never wore armor at all, like how Trundle completely lost the diseased hero troll thing.

Taric's new direction looks like it can actually be a transition from his current form, rather than losing everything that he was.

No, because Riot has stopped doing that.

And honestly, in the case of Taric, it would be quite pointless, since he's still fairly loyal to the original character. Sure, he has discarded his armor, shield, and hammer, but I'd argue that those were not central to him as a character.

I was wondering if we could get something similar to captian gangplank for him even if it does not come with a new voice over. Like one before he climbed the mountain and one after

It's a good question, however I think riot hates doing traditional skins now.

I think it would be great for them to do this. I'm really going to miss the heavily armored Taric we are all used to, so it would be nice to have that as an option, even if he keeps the mace in that skin. Besides, By the looks of things he only has 3 skins. This would be an easy way to shell out a 4th skin for him.

Riot's confirmed that there won't be anymore Traditional skins.

The reason is because with every rework that comes out after Poppy's, Riot is redoing splashes and all of the skins (including base skin.) Community as a whole would rather get improved visual effects across the board over one reference to what the champion used to be.

i mean, either way he will still be truly outrageous. unfortunately, i bought bloodstone taric instead of armor of the fifth age taric, so i hope that one will look good too. even though nothing will ever be as fabulous as pink taric

All we know so far as a "new"-ish skin for him will be that Emerlad will be getting an actual theme to it rather then being a Recolor like it currently is.

But he'll probably get a new skin eventually but not right away with the relaunch.

Once Riot said that his emerald skin would likely be a new skin since it was just a recolor. I think that's what they meant with "New skin".

Perhaps Emerald will be an homage to old Taric since it's just Taric's default skin (currently) but green.

I think a cool legendary skin for Taric would be a texturally updated and cleaner version of his original look in which he'd have brand new animations that a different from his original and updated classic skin, and it could be called "Traditional Taric."

Who would even want a traditional skin. The entire point of Taric is that he is they gayest and most fabulous champion next Ezreal. Now we don't have to live that just through VO and fan art, but through the actual character and how he looks. This is a rework that should have minimal complaints about the lack of a traditional skin.

Taric won't be getting a Traditional Skin, but he WILL be getting a new skin most likely. Taric hasn't had a skin since Bloodstone, and so they've likely been working on a skin in tandem with the update. Much like Fiora and her update, and GP and his.

Riot had some sad words about the Traditional skins. If I recall correctly they said they didn't like the min general because they were a memory of what was changed and something about the VO and some talk about direct issues with character changes.

Did Sion get traditional skin? Did Poppy get traditional skin? Nope, and neither will Taric, Riot decided to not make traditional skins anymore.
