To be honest, I'm really sad about this... even with the inclusion of her going to the theatre, it seems what she enjoys the most aren't the dancers, but the stories that they weave of the outside world. I think Orianna's new lore is well done within the context of itself, but it makes me really sad that what used to be League's resident ballerina isn't that anymore.
Solidair32 votesOrianna, the original girl from the original lore, if I recall did love to dance (or maybe she was just good at it), but was SO MUCH MORE interested adventure and Champions in the league and thus strove to become one herself.
This new Orianna captures that same feeling more or less. In any case, I find this to be an acceptable replacement.

When the Universe site first began, that whole part about the League was absent from her bio page. If I remember correctly, her bio page simply had the whole, "Orianna loved to dance, but loses her life and Corin goes mad over it and reconstructs her."
I really phrased my thoughts... incorrectly? I didn't really know how to say it? I guess I miss less "Orianna's love of dance" and more... the symbolism and imagery that came with it. Orianna had always been the game's ballerina, its mechanical dancer. Now that image is kind of lost, and it becomes difficult to reconcile what's in game and what's in the lore (and I've seen the calls for a VU, but I feel that it almost removes her even more from the Orianna that was) What I also found interesting about the old lore was that Corin programmed dancing into her because not only was that an important part of the daughter that he was attempting to recreate, it also showed like... how he attempted to make her dance for him, like a wind up doll who doesn't quite know what to do outside of what they were made to. That even if she wasn't the Orianna that he loved when she was alive, that was fine because she was really created as a source of comfort for him, and continued to consider her his "perfect daughter". I understand that things change, but it's a little disappointing i guess.

Orianna's father probably just added some dance moves and voicelines ot remind him of that. Orianna the champion was only made to enter teh league of legends-his daughter's greatest wish. THAT is her point, to carry on the will of a dead daughter. Compared to that, dance is a bit mediocre as a part of her personality.

True, but she also uses her dance to fight. It gives her fighting technique personality rather than simply "fighting," if you know what I mean.

Well, in response to that, then wouldn't her moves be named after dances? Like Sona's are songs. They're not dances, they are Commands. She's an android. They even added her love of dance in the lore. It was her favorite thing while she was human. Her father even tried to use it to get her to return to her previous personality. But she no longer feels the same way.
