Is Wraith King from DotA the King of the Shadow Isles?
Please, notice this is just a theory that i wanted to share with people, also sorry for any mistakes my english isn't the best. (Quotes taken from leagueoflegends.com.wikia and dota2.gamepedia.com) So, I was looking at the Blade of the Ruined King item, and i noticed i looks a bit like Wraith King's sword from DotA. I also noticed gives you the same stats you should build on the Wraith King: attack speed, life steal and damage. Especially life steal, because he has a passive that gives him life steal (Vampiric Aurea). So i decided to take a look on BOTRK's trivia. ''Blade of the Ruined King is named after the mysterious "King" mentioned by the Altars on Twisted Treeline as the ruler of the Shadow Isles.'' This is tells me that BOTRK is actually a reference to some unknown king, it also states that he is the cause of the Shadow Isles current state, and the Wraith King's lore talks about how his seek for immortality and expantion of his kingdoms caused his land to become what it is now (the name of his lands lands are never stated on his lore) And now from comparing the Shadow Isles trivia and the Wraith King's lore i found out that: On the Shadow Isles, there is a saying, "Death is but a new beginning." And this made me instantly think about Wraith King's ultimate, Reincarnation: Wraith King's members regroup after death, allowing him to resurrect when killed in battle. And as stated before, Wraith King was seeking immortality: ''Should he infuse himself with Wraith Essence, he thought he might create a body as luminous and eternal as his ego. On the millennial solstice known as Wraith-Night, he submitted to a rite of transformation, compelling his subjects to harvest enough souls to fuel his ambition for immortality. No one knows how many of his champions died.'' And this quote taken from Wraith King's lore can be related to some events and aspects of the Show Isles: --he thought he might create a body as luminous and eternal as his ego. This reminds of the way most Shadow Isles related champions and skins look like. --he submitted to a rite of transformation. Let's compare this to a quote from Shadow Isles trivia: ''When the king of the Shadow Isles** ordered his sorcerers to crack open the barrier separating life and death**, the forest served as a well of power the magi drank deeply from, the sorcerers' ritual succeeded in corrupting the cycle of life and unleashing forces they could not hope to contain.'' --harvest enough souls to fuel his ambition for immortality. This make me think about what tresh did, ''His sole purpose is finding worthy souls, breaking the minds and bodies of their hosts, and then carrying them back to the Shadow Isles, where an unknown (but most likely terrible) fate awaits them.''. --No one knows how many of his champions died. As we already know the whole life in the island and the island it self was sacrified. Plese let me know what you think, and thank you for reading!
