Not sure what board to put this in, but as 
is getting a VU, shouldn't he get a recall animation? I'm not sure if Rito has said anything about this, or if anyone has the same complaint, because I haven't seen any. I just think he should get one.

They don't give recall animations to champions who get partial VU (model and texture update). Shen is the same as Fiora, Alistair, Kassadin, Maokai and Miss Fortune were. They just update the existing model and animations, unlike complete relaunches, like Poppys, who get a complete fresh model and everything.
I also find that a bit silly, there is nothing actually limiting them from giving these champions recall animations. So it feels a bit half assed on their part. It's not like these champions will see another update in years to come considering all the backlog of outdated champions. Why not do it while you are at it and be done with it, right? I feel their approach to this could be more throughout. If only they added animations for Shen's joke and recall plus a new VO, then he would be completely up to date.
I'm disappointed by this too, as I would have loved Miss Fortune to receive one herself. I feel like these animations should be standard at this point, at the very least on the default skin.
He didn't even get a Joke animation. It's kinda sad.

hes not getting one, if he gets one then so should Fiora and MF as both got VU's w/out a recall

riot's animation team feels really inconsistent... katarina's rework gave her a recall animation, garen's VU gave him one, so did master yi, soraka, sivir, nasus and twitch
meanwhile champs like annie and renekton didn't get one
the difference between both categories is that in the 1st one, the champions got updated animations for the rest of their kits. walk and attack animations too.. meaning that shen should also fit in that category

It's seems to be an extremely small scale VU akin to Kassadin and Alistar. Model upgrade and a couple of new animations to give it that fresh feel. The other two didn't get recalls either.
They haven't given recalls animations to Kass, Alistar, MF, Ryze... every one of the champions with visual updates. No clue why, it just makes so much sense and makes their players VERY happy. They said they wanted to modernize all the champions, but how can you do that without giving just a simple recall animation?!?
I was wondering about this myself. It seems like such a shame to finally update Shen; yet, the poor ninja didn't receive a recall animation. Heck, his joke animation for his first taunt still has no animation oddly enough...
While it's great to see one of my mains updated, I'm sure all of us Shen mains would like to see an animation or two for the joke and recall sequences. Whether it be something as simple as him spinning his spirit blade or striking a simple; yet, neat and graceful pose - anything would be good at this point to go along with the release of the updated Shen.

Yeah. I agree, but his ult should change 2. It's literally just the first old recall painted purple... Makes me cri :(
