Champion Mastery unlocks sections of champ lore as you level it up.

You buy a champ, you read the first paragraph, you reach rank 1 and get another part of their story. Then Rank 2, 3, 4, 5. Each one unlocks another part of the story.

Sounds pretty good. I just really hope people don't pick a champion solely for the story progression. Then again, you would get it much faster if you actually WIN with the champion, so there's that.

Well, it was an idea. I feel it would be neat, and kind of peak the players interest AS they play certain characters. Like YOU earned this story block, and if you want more you have to earn the next. It'd be another incentive for champion mastery aside from the other carrots dangling in front of peoples faces. It'd give you more attachment to the champions you love to play and take an interest in.

Of course you'd be able to just go to a wiki and read it all once they've collected all the lore paragraphs, but where is the fun in that?!

It'd be SUPER GOD DAMN COOL

If you unlocked FURTHER parts of the story by mastering multiple champions with INTERTWINING LORE!

So say you mastered both:

Lucian Thresh

Once you have them both at rank 5

You get to read what ACTUALLY happened to Cinna, how it happened and you get a more in-depth version of their history together

What about these guys?

Vi Caitlyn Jinx

Ashe Sejuani Lissandra

Khazix Rengar

Tryndamere Aatrox

What if mastering several of these champions unlocked more information about what happened to them in the past? Or what could happen in the future!

worst idea on the boards since ever. lore should be accessible to all people

I'm sorry you feel that way. As I said, there's a Wiki if you want to read all the lore at once.

I just figured it could be fun to have champion mastery actually tie in with the story, and if you want to know even more about a champions history and their relations with others it'd give players an incentive to try new champions related to the ones they've previously played.

This is a no go for me for several reasons.

  • Wiki discloses all information regarding lore for both champions and general lore.
  • Why make it something you have to unlock? i get the concept but no one would actually do it. Hell only reason I do masteries is because I have completionist anxiety.
  • Lore team would go URF on Rito and slaughter half the staff with how much they'd have to add in with a short amount of time. Seriously, League Community is already salty enough with them, they don't want to open Pandora's box now.
  • The whole "What could happen in the future" Statement... throw that out the window, that's a horrid idea... Don't tell me the end of a movie when I am buying the ticket to go see it.

Too bad you'd be left unrewarded for every champion released or retconned since Shurima event.

That's all too good, but what i would like to see is some way to modify your champion visually, maybe just a recolor or something along the lines. To make you stand out and show off that you're not a newbie with that champ.Just an idea, for those of us who don't care about the lore.

Me:"I want to master rengar!" Mastery Level One:Rengar " Time to hunt that beast down." Me:"Oooh! Whats next?" Mastery Level Two:Rengar "Oh, hello, Gnar." Me:"OOOH, WHATS NEXT!?" Mastery Level Three:Rengar "Goodbye, Gnar." ME:"OOOOOOOOOOOOH, WHATS NEXT!?" Mastery Level Four:Rengar "There you are, foul beast!" Me:"GEEZ, I SURE WONDER WHATS NEXT." **Mastery Level Five:Rengar "Aha! You're pinned...(sexy growls) Me:" OH GOD NO!"

Me:"hmm....maybe i'll try to master Taric.." Mastery Level One:Taric "Ezreal's looking truly outrage-"

Me:"Welp, guess i'm staying on aram now."

I vehemently disagree with this idea. Not only would it not be effective (because the wiki would compile all the lores) but there is no reason I should have to play a champion, before getting to know them. I should be able to get to know a champion and THEN decide if I want to play them.

All things aside, let Champion Mastery be tied to skins. Don't give Narrative another reason to arbitrarily "hide" lore from us. They do it enough as is.
